We all know that machines with crazy video cards can run on auto and mine cryptocoins. What else can machines with high end gfx cards be used for to generate profit on almost fully auto mode (you set it up, and let it run, periodically monitoring it to make sure it didnt crash)?

Play games > become a competitive gamer > win tournaments.
Or just be like me and play for the lols > enjoyment and stress release.
Better yet, learn gaming lingo!
But in all seriousness, you could contribute to something like folding@home/SETI if you can figure out getting it working - depends on the cards you have. Nvidia cards can run CUDA-accelerated apps whereas AMD cards can accelerate via OpenCL.
P.S. don't bother with cryptocurrency mining. Train has come and gone. In general, the power costs will make profit margins slim if you aren't running a rig built specifically for it and monitoring the market like a hawk. Plus, you'll raise the price of AMD cards which hurts lil old gamers like me!

Render complex 3D graphics.
I have a rig gently warming my feet with its exhaust fan right now for just this reason.
Making money out of doing that is harder, though - just ask the guys who did the CGI for Life Of Pi...

There is a company in Hong Kong called www.slicify.com although I am not sure if the proposition is worth it or not ... I think a lot depends on your variable costs (primarily electricity costs) for running your machines.
Or if you want to do something more socially redeeming
then Stanford's folding@home is probably a good choice. http://folding.stanford.edu/home/
Folding@home (FAH or F@h) is a distributed computing project for disease research that simulates protein folding, computational drug design, and other types of molecular dynamics.
The project uses the idle processing resources of thousands of personal computers owned by volunteers who have installed the software on their systems. Its primary purpose is to determine the mechanisms of protein folding, which is the process by which proteins reach their final three-dimensional structure, and to examine the causes of protein misfolding. This is of significant academic interest with major implications for medical research into Alzheimer's disease, Huntington's disease, and many forms of cancer, among other diseases.
Folding@home is developed and operated by the Pande laboratory at Stanford University, under the direction of Vijay Pande, and is shared by various scientific institutions and research laboratories across the world

Ahh! That's the one - Slicify. I tested it when I went through a phase of playing with mining but couldn't remember the name of it.

3. Create a game center for LAN parties LOL.
4. Rent the machines to designers or scientist?
Honestly, while you can try a lot of stuff, if it takes a lot of time I'd probably sell them all and invest on more affiliate campaigns.
