it's been out for a while now ... the genius and success wasn't the fact that they used ads on adult websites .. it was that there was a whole PR campaign was centered around this piece of linkbait that doesn't look like linkbait

If I remember correctly the ad campaign itself had negative roi but the exposure gained was priceless.

If I remember correctly, it definitely wasn't Lorenzo who unearthed this study earlier and started talking to himself in their comments section.

That makes sense as the whole time I was wondering, "Why would they publicize on their blog that they've found a cheap ad platform to use to advertise their non-porn business so every other Tom, Dick, and Harry would do the same thing and cause the CPM to rise?"

Oh...now I see.

Hi,

Indeed we were VERY happy that eat24 tried out advertising on TJ.
We also made our own presentation (based on their presentation) that is also SFW and can be read here: http://www.slideshare.net/apanaitesco/eat24-case-study

I do not know how high was their ROI, and it's true that they did have a lot of PR out of this.
However, at TrafficJunky we remain confident that porn advertising should be profitable for main stream advertisers as well.
Why?
Because it is cheaper than most other advertising networks and that, let's face it: I don't see why Ford car potential buyers (i.e.) would not watch porn from time to time.
Since in advertising, your goal is to show your ad to your target audience, based on the assumption that most people do watch porn (even among those who deny it), then they are reachable through TJ.

I fully agree with you on this point, the issue is that these companies do not want to be associated with us porn companies as it is bad for their image and most likely their shares, lets be honest! I don't understand why alcohol companies don't advertise on adult networks, globally, consumption of alcohol is considered only for adults so to me it ties in perfectly with our industry. Not to mention how much fun they could have with their ad campaigns on adult networks, it could be very creative with a SFW version for their youtube channels and other advertising ventures. I think liquor brands would do great by advertising on sites like pornhub or porn.com.

It's true as well, I've been working for a long while in mainstream companies before working for TJ and most brands are usually very cautious about where they are shown.
Having said that, I'm more and more convinced that as long as you do not advertise the fact that you advertise on adult sites, you limit the risk of damaging your brand image.
What I mean by that is that either people see your ads while they are on adult sites (and it should not shock them) or they won't see them (if they are the church-going-lesson-giving kind).
I do agree that alcohol companies would make good mainstream advertisers on porn though!
