Hey guys,
I just switched to a traffic source which lets you alter the frequency cap. I initially started with a frequency cap of 5. After running my campaigns, profitably for a few days, my CVR started to go down but I was able to save it by lowering the frequency cap.
This got me thinking....What is a good frequency cap for mobile campaigns? I am running app installs if it matters.
I realize this number may be different for different placements but I would like to hear what you guys think/do.
Thanks!
i just default to 3.... I think of it this way... If a person saw your ad 3 times and didnt click, you are wasting your time... Kind of like that relative at your house that you gotta offer them coffee to be polite, any more than 3 times and then your practically pushing the drink down their throat...
There's so many different variables going on that it really should be auto-optimized (like: length of time ad was shown, time between impressions, etc.)
But, I've used 1-2 per day or per 1.5 days, and that's worked. So - really low!
You could test it if you had lower-level access to your DSP
Thanks guys. I've lowered my frequency cap. Anyone else?
Over a decent sample size, I've found 1-2 cap works well for a variety of offers (for me anyway).
I generally set it at 3, has worked well for me.
There isn't a direct answer for this, just know:
Too high: you're potentially wasting money
Too low: you're potentially not making your ad easily visible for users
