Okay.. been testing mobile app ins... and I have been researching the app that I am about to promote...
Anyway... I already have this app installed long time ago on my phone...
How does this affect my camp conversion rate?
For example... I am going to promote in decisive an app called COCA-COLA...
the app COCA COLA... already has 500,000,000 Download & Install...
so I have no idea if I send someone to app store or google play... and he/she clicks on OPEN... because he/she already have this app installed...
will this count as a conversion or not?
No, I don't think it will count - in most cases and advertiser wont pay for a lead that they already have... unless their tracking can't distinguish the two!
However, just because 500,000,000 people have downloaded the app doesn't mean there are 500,000,000 active users - and in this case getting a user back who removed the app 3 months ago will likely still count as a conversion.
There are always ways to market a successful app to new audiences or with a different angle - there aren't many situations where market saturation happens. Take Google Chrome for example... it has ~40% market share of browsers in the US. That's huge, but that means 60% of the population could be converted...
It's a bit of a swings and roundabouts situation.
An app that a lot of people have already installed has a reduced audience - but on the other hand, it also has a proven funnel and word of mouth.
A totally new app has no installs, so the audience is fresh - but that also means no word of mouth, no social proof, and quite possibly a lot of problems with the ad copy, the conversion process, etc.
One isn't better than the other - try both, just be aware of the strengths and weaknesses of each.
Thanks guys... you both are the best!
