I am constantly hit up with AMs hey Attila, we've got this hot offer, that hot offer -- and I know these offers would do well, but I simply don't jump and get on promoting them..
why? because I like to focus in on 2, 3 offers max and just work on those... is my approach bad?? should i be trying all kinds of hot new offers? this is the basis for my post.. i am wondering how you all handle this dilemma
I do the exact same thing. I know the exact type of offers i currently do well with, and only test those. Keep the showers going, and just select the ones you like and don't overwhelm yourself.
yeah, im kinda doing the same thing... Was wondering if i was doing it wrong..... I've only got so much time to concentrate on any one thing.... Ill work alot until i get a campaign to almost autopilot and then move onto something else...
I had a fairly long writeup of reasons why an AM is always hitting you up with offers but nothing really explains it better than.
"It's his job."
His job is to provide you with guidance and support but it is also to get the word out about new offers on the network. Every time he tries to alert you about a new offer you can bet your ass the biz development exec is behind it.
@iamattila your approach is spot on mate. If you want to make things work, you have to have focus. I've seen a tonne of people fall victim to a terminal cause of shiny object syndrome.
Here are a few things to think about:
Reasons why AMs push offers:
- They are competing with another network for cap.
- It has good margins for them.
- They are trying to get enough volume to push for an exclusive deal with the advertiser.
- They just loaded the offer to their network, and promised the advertiser fast traction.
- The offer is relevant to offers you have previously promoted.
- The offer is legitimately doing well for affiliates.
Reasons why AMs don't push offers:
- The offer has a small cap.
- The offer has small margins.
- The offer hasn't been picked up by any affiliates.
- The offer is plain shit, and doesn't convert.
When I started out I felt guilty if I didn't test an offer an AM presented me. But then I realised it was actually for both parties if I was straight up, and started saying "no thanks, I'm focusing on this one". You and your AM will both make the most money if you are able to focus.
Ye just stick to ones you feel confident promoting. In general it's biz for everyone so it's good to remember what is being suggested by them
Thanks,
To put it simply:
A represents the campaigns that are in your best interest.
B represents the campaigns that are in your affiliate manager's best interest.

If you can find common zone "A & B", you are both happy. But if you go to the zone "B but not A", you will be unhappy.
