List Building In PPV (Your Experiences)

I am looking to build a list in ppv and wanted to get some feedback from people who have done this on a mass scale. I did a small test and was able to collect emails and monetize them right away to just about get the email for free. Actually around 5 cents
an email.

The list is pretty broad, not really niche specific.

I am considering going after "Biz Opp" list but not sure what I should be gunning for as
cost per subscriber.

I'd like to also here about other people who do list building with ppv and their success and any tips if possible.

I've had good luck getting signups related to coupons and grants. But the quality of users from TV and MT was a lot lower than I've seen from non PPV sources, like FB for example. You can probably get any niche profitable with some experimenting, and PPV is really ideal for signups. You'll find the cost per subscriber varies hugely based on your niche, angle and what you're enticing the person with to sign up. The trick is to find an angle that is exciting enough to get a high signup percentage but is not too far-fetched that your subscribers won't be like WTF when you email them trying to sell them something...

My suggestion is work on one site/angle...build out the backend....define a cpa for that backend....

eg....every (data capture) = $5 in net profit......now you know your cpa..at this point you should have a decent metric to work off of $5 lets say.....so base you capture off of that....

then expand to other targets/keywords......testing and tracking them THRU the backend.....define what works and what doesn't...expand on what does.....

This has always worked pretty well for me.

I've done it a lot on email/zip campaigns.

Unfortunately I did it for the Justin Beiber campagn and now I have a list of 3000 Justin Bieber fans.

What should I mail to them?

Get creative and build a lander around a Justin Bieber IQ Quiz. Say something like Just scored a 112, most people can't beat him... Justin Challenges You! Then have some social proof on the page of recent people who have tried to beat him. That's just one idea. I am sure a lot of them are women too.

^^^^I had a similar list about a year ago, and did the best emailing IQ, ringtones, Make My Baby. Also did well with email submits. For submits, make the subject something like "(5) Justin Fans Needed". Then in the body, write about how for today only, they are giving away [insert product/gift card] to five Justin Bieber fans. Click this link to see if they're still available."

I stopped doing this once I started getting emails from dumb teenagers thinking they were writing to Justin Bieber himself. Couldn't take it.

I've killed doing it and built assets that I can profit from to this day. I target demographic based rather than ultra-targeted, it's a lot more affordable. Building targeted lists is always too expensive for me.

Not to mention the customization of landers you have to go through if your trying to build a target list for just a few optins. I have to agree the demo list are easier to build and on the right high volume targets you can build massively.

I've had success finding a site and trying to give them something very similar or base it around the idea of the site. My question is if you're constructing a demo list, do you just find the demo then giveaway something to that demo... i.e. targeting women 25-35, "Hey Get Your Free Makeup Sample" then go to a makeup offer of your choice. Once the email
is collected then build out your pathways for email followup and start slamming offers to find out what converts?

Another idea... there's a mobile offer "Are you Justin Bieber's ideal girl?!" out there, you may have luck promoting this directly. I've seen it available for 5-10 countries too, if you didn't catch only US peeps

How do you track the individual or site wide sign ups?

Can you give us a simple example of a demo targeting list building with PPV.
