This just happened to me... (9)

This just happened to me...

Last night... I decided to pause 7+ banners out my campaign rotation.. but I still have around 5+ banners active...

anyway... those remaining banners should give me good ROI... however... today I woke up and there was only "1" conversion... which should have been 20+ conversion already... before I paused those less performing banners...

so I checked if there was something wrong with my campaign... I checked my lander.. I clicked through the entire campaign... from CPVLAB link to my lander then to the offer landing page...

I did this twice... just to make sure there was no problem... and I landed on the offer page just fine...

anyway... I checked my stat again.. and there is now "2" conversions... I check which traffic was it from... and I see my "OWN IP" address as a conversion...

I did not signup to the offer... I just tried to see the whole flow from banner click to CPVLAB link to my lander then to the offer landing... that is it... after I reach the offer landing page... I closed the browser... and get back to my stats...

How could that my visit to the offers landing page became a conversion?

and why did I only get 1 conversion when I paused 7 banners...?

I had 2 weeks of data... that proves the remaining 5 banners were giving me lots of conversions... and positive ROI... I checked them with caurmens recommended calculators... for statistically significant data...

This used to happen to me quite often also. Whenever you pause banners, you need to replace them with new banners.

I believe this is why Caurmen mentions this in his new guide "The Main Course". He says whenever you replace banners with a poor eCPA, then add new ones to take their place so that the total number of banners never changes.

Hi ims2014,

Thanks for chiming in.. that is a very interesting point of view... I checked Caurmens guide and it was for mobile... I am currently doing adult..

What really bothers me is why my visit to the offers landing page become a "CONVERSION"... when I did not sign up or anything like that can be called a conversion..

There's many reasons why the conversions would tank and if the flow is fine I would accuse the offer of having issues.

As for your IP causing the conversion... not sure what has happened here. Are you 100% sure it's your IP? If there was 1 digit different...

What platform is the network using? Is it possible that you recently changed IP due to dynamic allocation by an ISP and someone who previously had that IP just so happened to convert? This is unlikely, but possible.

It's also possible that the offer itself is having issues, hence your low conversions, and mistakenly fired a postback for your visit.

Hi Zeno,

Yes... I am 100% sure that it was my IP which got the conversion... and it was pretty stupid that my visit to the lander became a conversion...

I even added a keyword/target... =testing1 or =testing2.. and it was the keyword =testing1 which got the conversion...

so in short... it was my IP... it was my keyword/target... IT WAS REALLY MY VISIT to the landing page... 1000000% SURE of it...

I have no idea what platform they are using... but it is Maxbounty network... and my AM don't have anything else to say about this...

but anyway.. it seems like today is working fine... so it must have been the advertisers tracker?

Ya most probably a tracking glitch.

I wouldn't waste too much time is this is an isolated case.

We're dealing with 1-2 conversions here?

Ignore it and move on! Unless it continues ofcourse

alright then...

it just sounded a bit fishy...

I was expecting 20+ conversions... and it suddenly stopped... and then I went through the funnel and my visit to the offer landing page became a conversion... :P
