Guys,
Just wanted to start a conversation regarding Categories selection during campaign setup. When testing a new offer, Do you guys prefer to go RON with all the categories and then optimize at the site/app level or do prefer to start with some relevant categories and then optimize from that. RON would obviously require a larger budget but you may find some hidden gems, while starting with some relevant categories, can be done on a smaller test budget, but you may run the risk of losing out on some potential winners. What are your thoughts?
Depends on offer... offer type.. etc... broad interest or not..
Do you homework.. wrw the offer.. check top.placements... then check what category those placements fall into... 80/20 rule it.. and target the cats 80% of placements fall into..
If u are running a game like jelly splash.. u mite want to just target casual games and/or puzzle..
If u are running a game like war thunder.. u mite want to just target strategy category in games..
Its all.about the offer.. do your homework to find out what worked for others...what demo uses the offer and then find placements where that demo hangs out..
I generally prefer doing optimization based on single pubids instead of categories.
Many times categories are not categorized correctly and there are no clear winner when I look at stats.
