Facebook: high ad frequency - what to do about it?

Hello,

My audience is only 800,000 people and when I target them Ad Frequency goes to 6-7 and even more.

How do you maintain your CTR and keep clicks coming in? Are there any alternatives to manually creating dozens of ads with a new images and ad texts each day?

Thanks

What ad type, bidding mode and budget?

What is the current reach? Is this 6-7 frequency a daily thing or over the lifetime of the campaign?

Usually, if you get a high frequency it is from one of the following:

1. You have hit most of the demo, i.e. have delivered 1 mil impressions to a 400k audience, half of whom don't log in often.
2. Your bid is too low and FB is only delivering ads to a small subset of your audience - likely if doing news feed due to FB's perceived value of some users.
3. Your budget could also be restricting the reach.

Duplicating campaigns likely won't help if one of the above is the issue.

Its CPC, sidebar ads. Right now I am limiting budgets because when I make them bigger, frequency goes over 10. Currently 6-7 is a daily frequency. Total audience is around 800,000 and I reach at least 100,000 daily.

My bid is maximum or middle of suggested and it's doing fine. Sidebar ads have CTR 0.12 and over.

Maybe option 1 is the closest...

Oh right, sidebar.

Yeah there are so many sidebar impressions it's easy to hit high frequencies, especially if your audience don't all log in daily.

It is normal for me at least to see the same ad in the sidebar 3-4 times in a 5 minute Facebook check.

You just have to live with it. Hopefully the upcoming changes will bring a compromise of ad performance and pricing.

Thanks Zeno!

In regards to CTR, what do you recommend to keep it high? Its going down after 3-4 days... The answer looks obvious - Should I be changing ad copies and images all the time?

The sidebar burns out quick... only real solution, if hitting the same audience, is changing images often.
