How To Find The Information You're Looking For On STM
Whether you're new at STM or you're an old hand, you'll be very aware of one thing:
We have a truly mind-boggling amount of information on here.
With over 150,000 posts, we've got information on any aspect of affiliate marketing - or internet business - you could possibly need to know about.
But the trick is often finding that information.
Fortunately, we've got a lot of tools to help you find things. And here's a guide on how to use them!
We're always happy to help you find information if you just can't find it, but please do try these tools first - they're faster and will get you to what you need more easily!
Indexes
Yes, STM has indexes! I've collated the best and most useful posts on a number of areas on STM, including landers, adult, and mobile, and put them all together in user-friendly lists for you.
Here Are The Indexes!
I'm always adding new ones, and I'm very happy to take suggestions for indexes that we need. Currently, next on my list are:
- An index for our most frequently referenced posts
- A Facebook index
- A technical index
- An index of posts for newbies
If there are any others you'd like to see, let me know!
Search
STM's search function is really useful - it's what I use most of the time when people ask me where they can find a thread.
The search box for STM is up here:
The basic search can be useful, but tends to return a hell of a lot of results. To narrow things down, I usually use the Advanced Search (which is not as scary as it sounds):
Clicking on Advanced Search will bring you to this screen:
1) If you know which forum or forums you think the thread is in, click this tab to open up a page where you can select the forums you want to search in. It'll open up additional options where you can select the forum you want to search. Hold CTRL and click on multiple forums if you want to search more than one.
2) If you're looking for a specific thread, most of the time it's more useful to search for that thread by a word that's likely to be in the title. For example, if I wanted to search for the F5 thread, I'd put "F5" into the search box and choose "Search Titles Only". That'll really cut down on the number of results you'll get.
3) If you know who posted a thread, this field is really helpful. Just enter "caurmen", for example, and it'll search only for threads that I started, or posts I posted. This field is NOT case-sensitive, so you don't need to worry about getting your capital letters right.
4) If you know roughly when the thread was posted, you can narrow down your results even more.
Example: If I wanted to find my post on making a mobile lander work with any phone, I'd type "mobile lander" into the keyword field, then type Caurmen into the user name field, and select "Search Titles Only". That gives me these results:
And it's easy to find the thread from there!
Prefixes
Finally, if you want to review all the tutorials, case studies, or follow-alongs for a particular traffic source, there's a sneaky way to do it.
Go to the forum for the traffic source you want to study, then go to the bottom of the page.
Click the dropdown by "Prefix" and choose Case Study, Tutorial, Tip or Follow-Along to get ONLY the threads with those prefixes. This is what I do if I want to review everything STM has on a particular topic fast.
You can also use this in other forums, like the Tracking or Design forums.
And that's it! If you have any other comments, suggestions or questions, please do post 'em below!

I don't believe there is, unfortunately. That'd be a great feature - I'll look into it.
