Didadel's Mobile Follow-Along

I ran traffic for 3 days and had 1 conversion for $.80. My ad spend was around $20 total. I was running traffic to a Polish "free iphone" offer. I think the offer (email submit) was the reason there was only 1 conversion... Are there specific types of offers we should be running? installs?

Are you using a lander? How many banner angles have you tested?

I have 8 banners, but they are all the same angle "congratulations, you've won. Click here to claim" something like that... Also, no landers were being used (they weren't included in the guide, so I left them out)

Id recommend trying few more angles each with a couple diff banner designs... run em at the same time to offer payout 2x to 3x per banner and note down the cr %

Ok, can you suggest an "angle" for free iphone? I feel like those types of offers are tough to spin... Like "Free iPhone 5 for Soccer fans"... something like that?

Hi Didadel - since you were essentially starting a follow-along with these questions, I've moved them to a new follow-along thread! Looking forward to hearing about your progress.

Do you know if the offer is converting well? Have you asked your AM? Not all win-an-iphone offers do well.

As for banners... this is all about angles. Landers are a big part of this too but you can get away with direct linking.

Your overall banner CTR is quite low so I'd recommend really getting creative here and testing wildly different banners. No one can really give you angles... they are something you need to master and test yourself since they are a critical part of marketing no matter the platform, traffic source or campaign.

Make sure to look at the app/site placement stats and pause any placements that are giving rubbish CTR. Often a few placements will eat up >50% of your impressions but be giving low CTR and no conversions (if you spend 2-3x the offer payout on a placements with no conversions it's a good idea to pause it).

As Zeno says, getting ideas for angles is something that you really have to master yourself, via brainstorming, research, etc.

However, a few ideas just off the top of my head (no idea if these will work):

- "What do you think of the new iPhone?" Get people to fill in a very short survey, then say that survey has qualified them to enter the sweep.
- "EXCLUSIVE: Testing Offer" Present the sweep as a "beta test" with a limited number of places - users are being given the phone in exchange for feedback.
- "It's BLAH holiday, so we're giving away iPhones" - tie the sweep to a national holiday.

Maynzie wrote a great piece on sweepstakes a while ago - check the Mobile Index (in the Indexes board) to find it.
