Would This Work? Advertise to my MANY Instagram followers.

Okay guys, so, I've been trying to figure out a way I could utilize my Instagram followers to profit. So, basically I have a few thousand Instagram followers, because I take some dope nature photos when I travel, and occasionally a selfie So, I was wondering if I were to tell all my Instagram followers to click on my bio links and go to the mobile game app I am promoting and install that game.

The CPA for that game is $2.85, and I get paid based on the install and actually opening the game. My instagram followers typically listen to what I tell them, because it's mostly women. lol. Anyways, if I were to have at least 10%-20% of them do that, or maybe more, that could lead to easy 20k to 40k payout. I know the budget is fairly big for the game I'm promoting.

Would I get in trouble by the network for doing this? Since, I'm not really targeting "gamers" and not sure if Instagram is even allowed? The quality might suck for sure, but who knows maybe they'll actually play the game, I mean, I do sometimes.

Let me know if my idea sucks, and sorry, not sure if this is the right thread to post on.

It could DEFINITELY work but you might need to approach it different. I would tell my followers how I'm hooked on this amazing new game...maybe try and tie it in to your photography somehow ?

I would run it past my network as it will probably fall under "app discovery" which some networks/offers don't like very much.

Honestly, that might sound a little bit corny to my followers. My approach was going to be that I was a part of the development with this game, and I was hoping they would support my work by installing and playing it. What do you think? How well can networks track where the leads come from? Like what if I use a landing page? Could they still track that it came from Instagram?

Haha perfect timing. Two nights ago my fascination for Instagram blew up when I met some girl who had naturally gained 27k followers.

I was thinking she must of just posted provactive photos of herself, but nope they were just really nice travel photos.

She linked to her travel blog where she auto posted her Instagram using an app called "if this then that". Naturally she got companies buying a few sponsored ads through out.

Now I'm not sure how much scale there is there, but I would send people to a blog instead of direct linking to an app. It will allow you to sell higher priced products as well as run a bunch of split tests a lot faster.

I don't think a network would have a problem with you promoting a game app as long as you aren't incentivizing the download. Honestly just ask them I'm confident you would be fine.

Yeah it's crazy, most of the instagram users with the highest amount of followers use a blog, and have ads on there. I think majority of the times they use google adsense to profit from it though, and not anything affiliate related. I don't know much about making my blog, but I was thinking of making some awesome mobile lander that would have offers on there, and some of my photos that can be saved for mobile wallpapers. I would have to play around with that, but definitely want to utilize my Instagram more. Free clicks is always good!

I think you'd definitely want to split test because linking phone users directly to an app will have high conversion rates. Find a app/game relating to women.

My main question is you mentioned a few thousand instagram followers and 20k-40k profit possibility. That i can't see correlating unless you have 500k followers.

Keep in mind your users will be a mix of Android + iOS. You'll need an offer that converts for both and to have it auto redirect.

I was only saying 20k-40k profit, because the payout is 2.85 for this game So, if only 10k of my followers converted that would be $28.5k. I have a little over 100k followers. That's true about the auto direct. Is there a script for that?

I would be a little cautious with that part, unless it's true. It may help with signups if your followers are close and want to support you. But if the advertiser finds out and flips out, you may end up causing a problem for yourself. A network owner may be able to provide a better insight to this however.

Yeah I wouldn't advise doing that... it's borderline incentivising - well it isn't, but it would be akin to saying "for every new user of this app a kitten gets adopted". It's sending users to an app under false pretenses.

05-12-2014 03:36 AM #11 volkad (Member)

Haha the kitten part isn't a bad idea now that you mention it, but the downside to that incentive is I would have a lot cats roaming around my house. All sarcasm aside you're probably right, the last thing I want is to get kicked out of my network and not get paid for anything. I'll have to find another approach if I want to use my instagram followers, or maybe even ask my AM. Thanks.

I would stick to promote stuff in the same niche of your followers or just link to blog with adsene,

You want to bring the most quality stuff in front of them..

One related note - the "If This Then That" app Mr Green mentions is https://ifttt.com/ , and is amazingly useful for any social media work.

Caurmen this website should be on front page of mobile, if it's not already. VERY useful website for more than affiliate stuff!

What about challenging your followers (first you'd have to get the game yourself): I will re-post/re-follow/whatever anyone who beats me in this addctive game! My game username is: volkad, go find me bitches. Preferably a game with both iOS and Android and your picture would be funny selfie or a screenshot from the game.

Haha as awesome as that sounds, my followers aren't those kind of followers. Most my followers are women, and they would never agree to that kind of challenge, or any challenge of sort. I can probably just get them to install the game, and maybe try it for a few minutes. So, that's why I'm worried about sending very low quality leads.

yep yep yep!

This is best idea, its how big youtube game accounts get people to try games! All gaming companies now fight to be on these youtube accounts.

Then why promote a game at all if you don't think that they would be interested in that? There's loads of app installs that pay that aren't games that would suit your demographic more. Just hit them with a dating app or some shit? zoosk? Phone optimization apps?

Women - what age range? If they're older, I'd look very carefully at how Farmville and similar games market themselves. There's a lot to be learned - and a lot of money to be made - there.

Really good point, dating would do really well. In the US there's 2 interesting app installs right now:-
IOS Opera browser app and US Skout app.

Your biggest issue is battling the mix of GEOs, so offers like mobogenie is a good bet for that.

Honestly, its not easy due to geo mix and phone mix. I have a feeling its not going to be the $ you think.

I saw it recently. Check in the networks/offers section.
