Slowly but surely, I've been able to break even with Adult on some of the "premium" traffic sources.
The only roadblock I've hit are click costs. I can't seem to figure out how to get cheaper clicks, or what a cheap/fair priced click in adult should cost.
The click costs I need to become profitable aren't outrageous, but at a certain point - I can't attain the ctr on the ads needed to make a profit.
If it helps, I'm running Adult/US/Mobile - invented my own lander style that is 4%+ CR and the offer converts well.
Any advice at all would be welcome?
Create higher CTR ads, simple as that. Also make sure you're uploading new ones on a consistent basis to fight banner blindness.
The other way is to try and go direct with buying traffic from the website.
Most of the guys running US adult wap are running direct with paybumps, they probably have similar CTR as you, maybe a bit more, but their payouts are much better.
FOCUS on quality, go direct or use your aff manager for good communication. US Wap is more a longterm campaign, you put investment into the campaign in the beginning at break even to slight loss, to hopefully receive a paybump to push you into the profitable zone, and for US wap the volume is there for some big big profits.
Quality: 25+, don't mention free, use mature images, focus on the higher quality tube sites, don't run RON

When is it ok to ask for a pay bump (ex. after X leads)?
And, is there a rule of thumb for what an offer should cap out at (ex. SOI offer that starts out at 1.50 per lead)?
for US wap you'd want to send a few hundred 400-500 to get an idea, any lower you will probs just get cut from the offer, if you wait a 5-6 or more days as well, if you ask too early there will be no maturity of the leads its really a balancing act I've seen it go either way but the more you send before you ask, the more you focus on quality over fast profits the higher likeliness of getting some BIG money. I know a few buddies on this forum who focused on quality, built up a great relationship with the direct adult merchants out there and now they've been running US adult wap for 2 years bread and butter massive profits.
