How was this done? (16)

How was this done?

Somewhere on this forum someone mentioned at facebook page that has got a ton of likes. Its https://www.facebook.com/pages/I-Lov...29975260427309

It looks like the page was started in Nov of 2013. What blows my mind and the question I have is how did they get OVER 16,000 LIKES on the first image post they ever made?

I assume they did a sponsored page like and if that is what they did how would they get the ad approved since it appears to break the 20% text ad rule? And if this is the case they have been able to get those image posts approved for months that violate the 20% text ad rule...

Any ideas?

Thanks!

^ That is not the answer... there is a lot of writing in the picture to cover 70-80% of the grid squares.

It's easy to achieve this, but why do it? In this case, seed money for momchat.com was used (as per some of their posts). If you have the money, there are lots of people here and on BHW who can tell you how to get 500k likes to your page and engagement like this.

Basically, you can still get cheap likes - as low as 1c. It's website clicks that are more costly these days.

Everybody knows that a FB Page's reach is no longer more than say 10-20% of its potential base. Sometimes much less, sometimes a little more. It depends on how many comments / engagement you have. You need a few ads that are just on the edge of 20% and do the whole "like/comment if..." thing. Reason why FB is trying to shut this down is because it is a way to manipulate their algorithm for the News Feed.

Out of that Page's posts, perhaps only 2-3 items are ads. Now it has a base of 350k people, of which probably 20-30k see new posts. And the new posts are all highly engaging in their shallowness and plays to emotions: "like if you love your daughter" (or whatever) - minimal investment, the fans click like again or comment with "i love my daughter blah blah".

The base now extends organically because people are sharing names in the comments, the posts are appearing on people's walls, etc. The pictures with mostly writing don't have to be ads. But if you get them approved as an ad, you can start to effect such a cycle.

So far the ROI on this operation is 0% by the looks of it. But to get a community started, it's a great loss-leader and if this person knows what they're doing they can quickly establish a naturally growing community of active mums.

Thanks redrunner! So you dont think this guy is profiting from his fanpage? I noticed that from the beginning he threw in an auto insurance ad as the text of the post. He has done this several times since starting and I assumed he was monetizing it pretty well.

Of course the guy (and from the looks of this, it probably is a guy) will be making money from this, but this is definitely not the best way to monetise this page.

In fact, it is pretty stupid.

Mothers represent an extremely valuable demographic/psychographic market segment with high purchasing power that mainstream advertisers really crave, and to waste it by just throwing random, irrelevant auto insurance offers at them is just idiotic, short-term thinking.

On a side note...are these fan pages still a viable way of doing that whole "bum marketing" thing since now only 5% - 10% of your posts are seen by your fans? Can you still make good money doing these?

hey cmdeal!

Yeah I totally agree, its a waste to throw irrelevant auto insurance offers at that demo but if he made money on that I would think throwing relevant offers to that target demo would do a LOT better and be a good way to monetize.

He is keeping the mothers engaged while he launches his "1000 spots only" mothers' forum. Not that stupid if it works and he can extract money from them outside FB and grow HIS asset.

So if I wanted to build a fanpage based off emotion like the guy above how would i get thousands of likes for a image/post? What is the best, most cost effective way to do this?

Do you just advertise that post for likes and hope to get cheap clicks?

Thanks!

There's no 'secret' to them. It's just about posting (image) content that people like to like... even if it doesn't have any backend value it makes shit go viral.

Thanks zeno! So this guys first image post got over 16k likes. Do you think that was all natural? I guess after looking at all the image posts and seeing that they are probably close to 90-100% text they wouldnt pass FB's text rule for ads anyways. But how do you think he got the ball rolling? Just sending it to all his personal friends? 16k likes just seems like an unreal amount of likes for the first post of a fanpage...

You aren't actually saying why you want to do this and how you plan to profit from this. You're just asking random questions at this stage, over and over again. It doesn't matter what this guy did, he had the money to do it. You don't know if he had ads before that "first" post, because you can't see dark posts. He could also have deleted things from his timeline. This thread is like Groundhog Day.

You can be pretty sure he had bolstered page likes via previous posts or unpublished posts before the first one you see on the timeline. And ads @ greater than 20% text by area will still get through - FB didn't start enforcing this seriously until a while down the track.

Groundhog Day...great movie! Yeah i was just trying to get some deeper answers to understand better. I was thinking of something similar. Playing on emotions to generate likes and funnel people to discover more about this emotion and sign up for a free guide. Now that I would have their email I would market to this emotion by providing information, tips, tricks and product/services that can help them. Thanks!
