Dumb Server / Landing Page / URL question (7)
Ok... I got stuck at Step 1. Boy I'm dumb. Tried searching the forum here but still stuck:

I have a BeyondHosting VPS. I'm confused about LPs and where to install Prosper.
Do I:
register a URL: programtrader.com
create a subdomain for Prosper: prosper.programtrader.com
create LP's as subdomains: sixpackabs.programtrader.com, datingoffer.programtrader.com, etc.. ?

I created a sub domain, ex: (track.yourdomain.com) then search for prosper on your cpanel. (Your domain.com/cpanel) then download prosper on your track sub domain. PS: you create a sub domain in cpanel as well :-)

Yes you need a domain. You can install directly on the domain if you don't want to have a site there but most prefer to have it on a sub domain like 'tracking'.
There may be a cpanel shortcut on Beyond Hosting or you could ask support to do it for you but the way I did it:

The above are instructions for installing on the main domain, so to install on a subdomain before step 1 simply create your subdomain and at the step where you upload the Prosper files upload them to the subdomain file root instead of that of the main domain.
As for landing pages I'm stuck on that as well lol. As far as I can tell you can either have the lander on a subdomain or in a subfolder.
For landing pages you can make them all individual pages in a sub folder. Here's to answer your questions:
Do I:
register a URL: programtrader.com - YES you can choose any domain that you would like. Preferably you would like to choose a domain that's relatively related to your offer. So if its skin care for example you would use a domain such as beautifulskincare.com or something of your choice.
create a subdomain for Prosper: prosper.programtrader.com - Its not necessary to do that although you can if you want. A subdomain can point to anywhere on your server. Personally when I used to use prosper I would install it in the main root of my domain and use a generic domain for all my landers and to track. (progtradetrk.com for example - but try not to make it look like its a tracking domain because some folks like to try and "hack" you to steal your data)
create LP's as subdomains: sixpackabs.programtrader.com, datingoffer.programtrader.com, etc.. ? - You can if you want too but then you'd have to know what you are doing for the subdomains to point to your lander so it's extra work for nothing. I would just create my landing pages and put them in a folder such as yourdomain.com/skinlanders/ or whatever it is you want to name it. You could even put them in the root of your domain it really doesn't matter. What's important is that they load properly with the images. I try to keep things simple because these extra things you mention just take more time to set up and in the long run I've never seen any major difference in results. But that's just my personal opinion.

I'd agree with davidkingstonn above.. keep it simple.. I usually buy a domain for my tracker.. install it in root rather than sub domain.. and buy a couple of other domains related to offers for putting the landers on..
