How
Peppering your Pinboards with relevant affiliate links and CPA links get massive traffic when Google decides to make your pinboard the number one result in searches for the keywords that you target. This happens more for Pinterest than any other social media website except for maybe YouTube.
What you need
A keyword rich pinboard
Links, keyword rich descriptions and pictures for relevant items to pin
Links, keyword rich descriptions and pictures for relevant affiliate/CPA offers
A way to cloak the affiliate links (URL shortener, redirects, etc...)
Time and patience
Algo
You can't blast this up in a day. Trickling it in is the only way that this works. Testing has shown that the 80/20 rule is in effect. That is, at least 80% of the pins must be real and not affiliate links.
My algorithm goes something like this...
Once per day for each pinboard
Post one or two affiliate pins (flip a coin to determine whether it is one or two)
Post 9 to 14 real pins and repins from other people's pinboards. Less than half should be repins (roll a 6 sided die and add 8)
Automation
This can be easily automated with various tools. Perhaps the simplest is to have all of your future pins in spreadsheets and all of your pictures and links prepared.
For example, you have a pinboard about robotics projects.
You have an Excel spreadsheet that has a worksheet containing all the links, descriptions and filepaths/URLs of the pictures for real robotics projects.
Then there is another worksheet in the workbook containing all the repins you like for real robotics projects on other people's pinboards.
Then there is another worksheet in the workbook containing all the links, descriptions and filepaths/URLs of the pictures for your related affiliate and CPA links.
Each day you go through and add the appropriate ones to the board for that day.
Full automation can be achieved by using a mySQL database instead of spreadsheets, some code to randomize things and the Pinterest API to post the pins.
There are many ways available to go about doing this.
What about repins and following?
This must happen on its own. If you need to pursue this then your pinboard is not good and you should scrap it and start over. Real repins and followers are a sign that you are doing it right.
Quality
Text must be grammatically correct and compelling. PICTURES MUST BE VERY COMPELLING!(especially for your affiliate links) Think "What makes ME click.
Yea, Pinterest is a nice beast,
Last year I reached to 1k$ a day just from pinterest, (that was my first 1k day..)
You just need to become member of top shared board, and share your links.. thats all.
I had automation script that re-pin the most pupolar items and every few times also pin my pins,
Because you can't spam people too much, they become more sensitive to it..
It was around may last year, not sure how and what is going on today there..
I personally don't recommend going that way, because
1)The can ban you account on any given day
2)Its small drung money that keep you statisfy instead going for the reall thing
3)Its not really scalable spamming people - sure you can do better than me and get more than 1k a day
but its in the core not scalable..
I might recommend it for newbe that need easy money and want to gain success, but again, it might become harder to spam, but for every protection there is attack, the question is in the end of thte day, is it worth all of hussel.. its up to you..
good luck..
Very interesting... I'm doing something like this, but for ecommerce. I have a VA that posts on Pinterest for my target keywords non-stop.
Remember reading this post about it too: http://lazyassstoner.com/my-dead-sim...eting-strategy
I'm not that smart, so naturally my question is.. did you really flip a coin to decide?
I have a feeling slowly Instagram will be a similar concept for the phone. I'm just not sure how its going to happen.. but it's just too big to not be taken advantage of by marketers.
I've been mapping out a lot of different concepts lately around building up accounts in case they allow URLs one day.
I do a ton of white hat SEO / article writing and use photos with relevant keywords.
I put an affiliate link in the photo.
Have made affiliate sales by Pinterest users adding my photo (with Aff link) to their page.
I did not know this was possible till I saw the pinterest link in raw click data.
Thanks for this post as I will be working on this more tomorrow AM.
I had only 3 accounts
for $2k I think 1 account will be enough..
See I finished doing it a year and half ago.. I am sure its much harder to spam right now..
Basically the script was that
for each user
for each board the user have
go the board
retrive 30 old items from that board.. get from there the item with the max pin.. create a post about it automatically.. by copy image to blog, create generic description on the site.. and pin that to the same board linking to my site..
That worked like magic.. I found myself with a 10,000k posts in my site in no time.. some posts even got viral.. extremely viral.. best month I was able to get 20k$ profit from that method..
I stopped doing it, because sometimes they ban account.. and even delete all of his pins..
and you need to create from start and it quite take time..
However even after I stopped doing so I was getting decent number of visitors without spam..
I was able to get 1k days of pure profit that way.. and because of the I actually quite 8-5 job.. . and very soon after I quitting my job lost major of this profit..
Note: I am not sure if writing that script was right move, I could easily hire VA or two each for 300-500$ to do the task of that script..
I will advice you do it first manually before you start writing your first line of code..
wow, thanks a lot Delash, I really appreciate it
I'll proceed to make the flow for this..
hey masdodi,
How's the pinterest strategy coming?
So Pinterest ad on a unique landing page (not the direct affiliate link) is OK ? With no pre-directs to any tracker ?
