Hi everyone,
I have a couple of questions (more relating to Mundo Media, believe the same with other networks).
a) For CPA offers, I can see 2 types:-
- wap
- without wap
if i click on both offers, I can see app installs, etc. What makes them different with or without wap?
b) some offers shows this:-
primary vertical : app install
secondary vertical : android
i thought app install applies to all smart phones e.g. android, ios, blackberry, etc?
c) I notice there are 2 types of mobile vertical. Either app installs or mobile. Is mobile referred as mobile websites? I believe app install is the customer has to download and install?
d) For mobile networks, I believe I have to promote either banner ads or text based ads right? Should I focus on banner ads as beginner to mobile?
e) I also noticed in the cpa offer on the tracking method : server to server
What does this mean? Server postbacks and not image pixel?
f) How can I preview mobile cpa offers? Can I use firefox and hidemyass VPN to preview this offer? Or do I need some kind of user agent switcher for firefox plugin to test?
Any help? Thanks
Hey man, I think you are overcomplicating this.
On mundo , WAP = takes mobile traffic.
Android = It takes ONLY android traffic.
For what types of traffic to run you should ask your AM. Generally banners are more than fine.
Server to server is a way of tracking conversions without using coolies. So it's not an image pixel. Nearly all trackers offer that option.
To preview mobile offers use a mobile user agent switcher plugin for firefox / chrome. Tons of them around.
Hi bbrock32,
Cool thanks
When preview mobile offers from different countries, I assume I still need a VPN like hidemyass right? Just to confirm
Lastly, is whatrunswhere worth to subscribe? I was thinking to understand the current banners landscape before starting my campaign. At least have a better feel what's working out there.
Thanks in advance.
Yes @ using a VPN service - it's good practice to just always check from the appropriate country. Often the preview links aren't that reliable and the landing page might geo-redirect and redirect by user-agent, which the affiliate network can't do much about.
I would spend your money on campaigns to begin with, rather than spying.
Edit: unless they have a free trial, then you might as well.
Hi zeno,
Thanks. 2 questions.
a) I used the chrome user switch and switch into android mode.
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/d...jiklpkjnoahfmg
But my browser size remains the same with desktop size. Is this normal for a user agent behavior? I thought it will resize?
b) When comes to mobile campaigns either in Decisive or others, should I use CPM or CPC for a start?
Any help? Thanks.
a) The user-agent has nothing to do with the browser window size. Changing user-agent is just so that sites that redirect based on user-agent don't bounce you to a desktop-optimised lander. Other pages might have more complex detection methods and may require you to use a real emulator or better software, e.g. the Opera agent, Mobilizer, Keynote MITE, etc.
b) I don't know of a golden rule here but most people run CPM in mobile due to the high CTRs compared to most desktop traffic. If you have no idea how well your banners are going to do you can start on low CPC bids and first see if they actually get clicks - this will prevent you spending $50 with no clicks if your targeting and banners are way off the mark.
Wow, the mobilizer and keynote mite are superb! Thanks for sharing
By the way, what do you mean by "banners are way off the mark."?
Thanks anyway.
Meaning they are really low performers or the targeting/angle is not effective.
Hi Zeno,
I noticed here
http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...hlight=install
you suggested to break the campaigns into 4 types:-
- wifi-site
- wifi-app
- mobile-site
- mobile-app
assume the above have the same banner ads (1 only for this testing).
Basically 1
Should I be using 1 campaign url from
e.g. my campaign url
http://mytrackerdomain.com/some-random-numbers?media={{{media}}}&app={{{app}}}&site={{{si te}}}&placement={{{placement}}}&cat={{{category}}} &device={{{device}}}&isp={{{carrier}}}&os={{{os_ve rsion}}}&cid={{{creative_id}}}&adid={{{ad_id}}}&bi dhash={{{bidhash}}}
What would Voluum knows and keep track the stats?
I noticed all 4 ads having the same creative ID
e.g. 320x50 TRJ96Xhza5CI
Or should I create 4 different campaign urls? 1 campaign url in voluum for 1 ads in decisive?
Any help? Thanks.
I imagine the creative ID might be based on the banner/image (hence they are the same) but campaign or ad_id likely changes. Ideally you would add a subid yourself for each different campaign that is easy to understand on the backend, e.g. 320x50v1_US_WiFi_App
Hi Zeno,
Thanks but sorry as I am not sure on this, where do I add this subid? Inside my campaign url manually?
http://mytrackerdomain.com/some-random-numbers?media={{{media}}}&app={{{app}}}&site={{{si te}}}&placement={{{placement}}}&cat={{{category}}} &device={{{device}}}&isp={{{carrier}}}&os={{{os _ve rsion}}}&cid={{{creative_id}}}&adid={{{ad_id}}}&bi dhash={{{bidhash}}}&subid=320x50v1_US_WiFi_App
or anywhere i can do this inside
Thanks in advance.
Go to traffic source setup in
For example, change "{{{creative_id}}}" to "REPLACE_{{{creative_id}}}", e.g. "US_WiFi_App_{{{creative_id}}}"
You could alternatively integrate the campaign name by having "{{{ad_name}}}_{{{creative_id}}}". However, this might be confusing if your campaign names are quite long.
Thanks zeno
that helps so much.
I have one more question before rolling my campaign at Decisive.
I am using Mundo Media.
Let's say I have this offer url
http://mundomedialink.com/mt/random-numbers/&subid1=decisive&subid2={clickid}
The subid1 is to differentiate which traffic I promote this. The subid2 will be the proper subid.
If I will use the above offer url, does that mean my global server to server pixel at Mundo Media should be this instead?
http://xxxxxxxx.trackvoluum.com/postback?cid=%SUBID2%&payout=%AMOUNT%
Noticed I have the cid point to %SUBID2% instead of %SUBID1%.
Is this the right way? Just to confirm. Thanks in advance.
Yes, that is absolutely correct.
Whatever subid you pass the clickid as, that is what must be used in the postback URL to
Thanks Zeno
I am ready to launch my campaign
Hi everyone,
Need some help.
3 questions.
a) In Decisive, there's smart cpm.
What should I put for a cpa goal? I am not sure how to estimate the numbers for this cpa goal thing?
Let's say I target US traffic, wifi and app only? What is the lowest cpa goal should I aim for?
I set it as $0.50 for the cpa goal. Not sure is too low or high?
b) In
When I create a new campaign and under cost model, what should I choose?
- do not track costs
- cpc
- cpa (not sure what's this?)
- auto (i can't click on this)
c) Can I promote dating ads on decisive? I think adult not possible, how about dating?
Any help? Thanks.
Hello
Also i see on F5media the offer media type: Banner or mobile....What does mobile mean?
C) Decisive should allow SFW dating, i'm 99%.
Ask in the decisive thread in the mobile section, they'll respond fast.
Hi Stackman,
What is SFW stands of?
Okay I will post the rest at decisive
Thanks.
NSFW = not safe for work. SFW = safe for work. I.e. would you get in trouble if your boss caught you looking at something? If so it's NSFW.
Use Smart CPM. I would put your CPA (cost per action) to just above the offer payout.
You don't know what your click costs are going to be and they will vary. Decisive and most platforms can't pass cost data forward to a tracker. So just use don't track click costs and look at profit/loss at Decisive rather than in your tracker.
I am curious about smart CPM in decisive (this issue happens for manual cpm too).
I just launched a campaign 2 days ago.
I target Europe countries e.g. France and carrier traffic. I notice it's charging me during midnight (4 - 5 hours), after that it's no longer charging me. It seems bids/wins/clicks numbers remain the same throughout the day. It only move when it goes midnight.
Is this a common behavior for CPM? it seems quiet the rest of the day.
Any idea how to pump big amount during that period or make it move?
Any idea?
Not sure what you mean by this?
You say its not charging you outside of the first 4-5 hours... but then the bids/wins/clicks (which you pay for!) remain the same throughout the day. Which is it?
In any case, are you sure your not just hitting your campaign budget?
hi zeno,
for this campaign
a) it only charge me for the 4 - 5 hours (midnight) only. The rest not moving.
b) the bids/wins/clicks only happens during the 4 - 5 hours. After that not moving at all.
I am targeting site instead of app installs.
is it no one viewing the site, that's why no movement outside the 4 - 5 hours?
Any help? Thanks.
Is it hitting its daily budget during that time? I'd guess probably not, but worth checking.
Nope, my daily budget is $15. But I only spend around $8 max per day. No idea what's wrong?
Even I increase my cpa goal from $4 -> $5 kinda makes no differences too.
Is it i set too low cpa goal?
That's weird. I'd ask Decisive support - they're very helpful.
Currently I have 6 campaigns. Each campaign has 4 ads. So now total 24 ads.
All using same lander and same offer.
I have 7 conversions.
This is the 3rd day. I noticed all 7 conversions come from 1 site only (which i target site traffic).
Would it be too early to blacklist other sites and focus all out into this 1 site?
I am worried to cut too early.
Any help? Thanks.
Cut the placements based on individual spend/revenue. Don't cut them all just because one is dominating - it would be better to create a new campaign that only targets that placement, then pause it in the original campaign to give the other guys a chance!
It's just so weird. When I create another campaign focusing on that site plus I increase my cpa goals, there's no conversions. Weird!
I really wonder why. Not only that, my existing campaigns just went quiet too with no conversions.
Is it because certain sites with certain ads work better with certain days?
This is invariably the case no matter what advertising platform you work on.
There are however any number of reasons why your campaign might do poorly all of a sudden, especially if you are new to the game and can't spot issues/bleeds.
If everything goes to crap it is important to check your ads through a VPN and confirm the funnel and offer is still loading as expected.
yes i did check
but yea i am new to this mobile game, much to be learned
