Analytics tracks only 50% of all conversions

Oi!

Problem: Google Analytics does not track arround 50% of all conversions. So for example a day had 10 sales, analytics shows only 5. This problem exists since months.

I have the very same problem on 3 different projects. 1 of them is even a client account and I had nothing to do with setting it up.

Yes, the tracking code has been set up correctly. Yes, I checked whether I have the right goal url for all conversions. Yes, I checked for duplicates. No, it's not a userbase where 50% might have noscript / any ghostery installed.

I'm absolutely in the dark about this.

Anybody experiencing something similiar? Or is your conversion data in google analytics accurate and it's just me?

Thanks!

Cheers
Steve

Hmm, that's a mysterious one. I've not experienced it myself - GA's been 90% accurate for me at least - but if I did I'd be tearing my hair out!

First thing that I'd try would be installing a second Javascript-based tracking system like GetClicky, just on the conversions page. That way you can see if it's a GA problem or a JS problem.

You might also try tracking a JS event on the conversion page too and see if those events get tracked - that'll help narrow down what's going wrong.

Hope that helps - let me know if you're still having problems and I can think about it a bit more!
