Hey guys,
I know lots of you guys love the Brazilian market - its size and growth are astonishing. Well, I'm a Portuguese marketing student who has focused on Brazil for the last couple of years - mainly on Facebook pages. I do know a lot on their culture. So I want to share some thoughts and some tips with you guys.
FACTS ON BRAZIL
MARKET PROS
Awesome post DP. Brazil is right up my alley as well since I focus on Facebook - and yes FB is a solid way to hit these users. Brazil has the third-largest FB user base in the world, second only to the US and now India (Brazil used to be second for a long time).
Health and beauty is a huge vertical but you will have to choose your approaches and offers wisely. Diet, skin care and muscle-related offers are difficult to run and generally require a large testing budget. You may be better off focusing on unique lead gens for that niche though I can't think of any relevant offers off the top of my had.
However, if you understand the culture you may be able to exceed in any vertical!
I'm sure there are some Brazilian only aff networks, but you would have to google that. Most affiliate networks do you have a few Brazilian offers, so you need to pick a niche first then it's easier to recommend which network.
Facebook is a great way to hit Brazilians haha. Like Zeno said, lead gen would be a good starting point.
I run a lot of mobile Brazilian traffic, that is another way you could go. There are tonnes of android and iOS apps for Brazil that you can work with.
I'm actually doing the same thing right now. Running the same vertical in Brazil on Facebook and Media Buy. It's a good vertical for Brazil, but does require a huge budget and split testing, but I added you on Skype, and maybe we can help each other out.

It depends - app installs or something else? Facebook mobile is a bit convoluted because you can't direct link out to app installs unless you have access to the app stores themselves (i.e. app owner or running direct). You can use page link posts but you sacrifice a bit in terms of social actions - mobile users love to like stuff in the news feed. You could possibly get a mobile app made to do some magic but I haven't considered it.
In any case, I think typical banner networks are a better place to start on mobile and when you know how it all works you can tackle FB where the demographic insights are available, but the ad setup more complex.
After scamming tons of brazillians ( rebills, pussy pop - drum rolls pls ) with FB ads past 2 years i am reading this today ( jaw drop, pussy wide open )
When it comes to affiliate marketing I find it interesting.
Most international offers that run in Brazil just translate the offer to portuguese.
You have to understand payment culture in Brazil too.
Here we have something called billet or "boleto". What does that means for you
affiliate. Well, if you offer only an international offer that ONLY accepts International
Credit Card you are reaching 35% of the whole market... maybe even less.
WHY??
Getting a credit card in Brazil is not as easy as in other countries. And the most famous
form of payment in Brazil is billet "boleto".
HOW DOES BILLET WORK?
People print it... and have to go to a bank, supermarket, lottery or post office to pay it.
They can also pay it online through their bank account.
Billet takes 2 working days to become a real sale.
That makes it very hard to track conversions in Brazil also.
SO WHY AM I SAYING THAT?
Unfortunately. If you don't have that option of billet and national
credit cards you are losing a huge piece of the pie in Brazil.
WHAT ABOUT MARKETS?
Brazil has a very free and open for all market. Most niches here
are not that competitive. Maybe health and diet are most competitive,
because there is a couple of international affiliates coming in.
But still A LOT of money available here... for who wants it.
WHAT ABOUT ME?
I'm selling a dating ebook and dating video course in Brazil
and making a good amount of money.
Launching a diet product soon. And also other products.
Before I was only working with brazillian affiliates, but now
I want to work with international affilaites... so that's the
next step.
Clickbank unfortunately doesn't offer billet or national credit
card, excluding themselves of a lot of money.
@marinhogomes
Thanks for the great info about billing
Questions: have you ever ran your offers in enlish countries? If so, how is brazil converting compared to english speaking countries?
How do they think about online purchases?
Is buying things online still new to them?
Also what about the price, can most people afford your product, Or do you need to keep prices low?
@marinhogomes
Brazil is a great market right now.
I've just heard too many product owners having issues getting money out of the country due to some tax restrictions. I was told you can't add expenses for tax reasons unless they come from BR companies.
Any idea about this?
@ marcovandaar
have you ever ran your offers in enlish countries?
No. I've started with affiliate marketing in the english market a long time
ago and got no conversions.
Brazil converts quite well for info products... it's becoming quite common here
and the traffic is way cheaper than in english language countries.
Most people can afford my product. But in USD it would be around $45.
I've been noticing people selling higher priced products and it going quite well
here.
The market is not as saturated as in the US and people are not as blind to VSL
offers (although it's getting very saturated on the Make Money Online niche,
specially the launch model).
@bbrock32
Yes. Transfering money outside of Brazil is a real pain. Brazil is one of the most
burocratic countries when it comes to getting the money outside of the country.
You have to fill bunch of forms. Pay bunch of fees and prove that you paid all
the taxes.
When it comes to paying taxes in Brazil you pay over the revenue not profit.
DPMarketing,
In your first post you mentioned:
"They have a payment service (like paypal) that let's them split the payments up to 12 times. That makes them compulsive buyers."
Any hint as to what the payment service is?
I once began setting up an offer in brazil but didn't go through with it... I did set up an account over
at https://ebanx.com/ pretty easily. Seems to be a great method for 'outsiders' to access Boleto Bancario and Credit
Card users in one hit.
Cheers
