Hey,
My tracker and my traffic source disagree violently on specifically carrier data for a campaign in India. They both have very different ideas of how many clicks (and in some cases how many conversions) a lot of carriers have had.
My traffic source is Decisive, the country is India, I'm using the maxmind GEO IP org database.
Has anyone else had a similar problem and/or does anyone have any ideas about how to handle this situation?
I'm trying to optimise carriers but it's very hard to do given two distinctly different sets of data as I don't know which one (if either) to trust...
One option would be to send the carrier data from Decisive to your tracker - that way you can compare the two directly and hopefully figure out how they match up. Decisive has a carrier variable you can pass to your tracking, which I think is {{{carrier}}}
However, I'd be very interested to learn why the two disagree so violently. Anyone from Decisive able to shed light?
Also, when did you last update your GeoIPOrg database? The carrier IPs may have changed recently.
Definitely pass the carrier according to the traffic source and optimise ads, campaigns and targeting based on that. What your tracker thinks doesn't really mean much to the traffic source in the end. Of course the tracker insights are useful for redirection rules and spotting crap traffic but that's a different issue.

We would love to help figure it out. The more information we can see from the tracker the better so we can see how they differ.
If you don't mind sending a message to support@decisive.is with what you are seeing and we can help troubleshoot.
