Gangster FREE research methods to produce a BAD ASS campaign for Milfaholic

Lots of people ask how do I do research? What are people running? Where are the good sources? Etc....

Well there's a free tool I came across the other day that is seriously bad ass.

And even better..... It's FREE!

http://www.similarweb.com/

Similar to alexa, quantcast and compete. But it's free for lot more data as of right now.

How do we use this Excaliber of knowledge?

I like to start with an offer. We'll use Milfaholic which is one of our bad ass adult dating offers on A4D. Milfaholics' URL is milfaholic.com

We're going to take this URL and plug it into similar web and it's going to spit out a ton of great data. But for this exercise we'll want to skip down to the "Referring Site" section.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/rb1rd8l3y1...2021.50.29.png

And guess what it shows us? All the top referring landers for Milfaholic. This is great but doesn't tell us where the traffic is coming from. So what we'll do from here is click on one of the URL's for this example I'm going to click on RulesAgree.com. It will take me to the same data read out as milfaholic.com but for rulesagree.com

Then lets scroll down to "Referring Sites" again and see how they're generating their traffic.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/0n8oarczq9...2021.52.32.png

You'll see at the top of that list is a ad network called TrafficFactory.com, then traffichaus.com, then globaltraffico.com.

With this information we can see what ad networks the bulk of the referring traffic is coming from. But those ad networks often have tons of targets within them. We need to figure out what targets we should be targeting inside of the ad networks.

Well guess what? SimilarWeb.com helps us with that too. Scroll down to "Display Advertising" which looks like this:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/4y36r1la8q...2021.56.00.png

Now based on that if I was to go on trafficfactory.com I'd look if I can target: redtube, pornhub, xhamster and youporn to start.

You can use similar strategies for any vertical or landing page you see out there on the web. As always I don't encourage people to rip pages but rather do research on who's doing what and how. This methodology will give us real data based on who's actually sending big traffic to deals. I'd start there vs. grabbing some random ideas from people you see online but don't have data to support.

Hope this helps some of you.

P.S. this is only posted here. I don't post adult based stuff on my blog. So I'll probably do another version for mainstream in the coming weeks so keep your head on a swivel.

(disclosure I personally have never bought adult traffic so I'm only speaking from common sense and knowing this works for other verticals)

I've been using this site for quite some time now. its awesome!

both alexa and similarweb have their own upsides/downsides. normally use both

another good site is heatsync.com

I havnt used that one much, I signed up when they were free in October. decided to have a look now, and it seems to go a bit more in depth than similarweb

the only downside is the restrictions with the free version. it seems one of the features on their site is you add a URL and it shows you information and also tracks it over time. you can track only up to 2 websites at a time, but are allowed to remove and add URL's as you please

Great post Smaxor. I wasn't familiar with the site, but what I really appreciate is the methodology behind the analysis.
