Instagram Marketing? (8)

Instagram Marketing?

Anyone marketing anything via instagram?

I'm currently playing around with it for local events in my city. Trying to build a big account that shares all the fun weekly food/drinking events.

I'm using http://instagress.com which likes photos and and follows accounts based on #hashtags you tell it to go after. It's working surprisingly well, and almost seems too easy to build a BIG account.

I've never touched instagram for affiliate marketing or any marketing so this is pretty fun to play around with.

Anyone dabbled here before?

I've built a few accounts using software similar to instagress. From my experience it is better to spend more time liking in relevant hash tags than it is to follow. When you follow lots of people, you end up just getting followed back by the type of people who follow everyone. They aren't really good for marketing because they follow so many people their homepage is just a flood of pictures.

Another issue that you run into is the fact that the demographic for instagram is mainly teens, and people in early 20s. Depending on what you're promoting they aren't the best for conversions.

It is pretty good though if you can get a pretty niche following. An example page I helped someone build is based around one of the current fad diets. He was able to promote various products related to the diet pretty successfully.

This is such a golden nugget and very relevant to my interests. How many followers are you gaining?

Instagram is a HUGE tool if you use it correctly. We haven't done anything with it but are working on some plans (kind of falling by the wayside with the other projects we have going on)... We know a couple people who have built up a couple hundred K in followers and are getting tons of hits and sales per day of their ebooks and programs.

One guys told us that trading and paying for shout outs on big pages with lots of interaction can be a huge bump in followers, other than that, just giving out great advice and content seems to build it up quickly, along with the hashtags of course.

Eventually we're going to get involved in this as well and will maybe do a case study/follow along! But looking forward to hearing more of your experiences with it!

I'm having about 75 people follow my account a day, which are all local people in my city who enjoy food/drinking. I'm starting off here and will expand to easier #hashtags eventually. Things like local sports teams will be even easier to get followers.

It's a huge problem, maybe one day they'll allow links and the big accounts will have hay days. Until then it's ok for me because i'll be promoting a local place, just give the name/address will do well.

The guys I know who recently launched a very successful coffee shop say that they used Instagram as a pretty major part of their launch campaign. Apparently it worked very well indeed.

Awesome. I'm thinking it will as well. Couple others are doing similar marketing here in Toronto and its definitely working for them! Based on my current stats i'll pass the majority of them in instagram followers within 3 months (quality is also a factor ofcourse). Will be starting Twitter soon too.
