Yesterday, I dug really deep into one of my Ad Words campaigns and traced back 3 months of data.
I compiled a list of advertising costs and commissions earned for every single day for the past 3 months and learned quite a few things.
Prior to analyzing this data I had the campaign running 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, I actually discovered that on average I was losing about $100 a week by keeping the campaign active Saturday + Sunday.
For whatever reason, those days I almost always went negative. I learned that by allowing the campaign to run Mon - Fri I would be able to increase my profit margin by about $400 a month.
On a side Note: My Ad Words account got banned today, but I hope a few people can still get something out of this post. (I think it was because of repeat trademark related issues) BS either way...
Man it sounds like there has been a mass ban on Adwords today.
Btw was your campaign dating? It's interesting what niches fall on weekends.
That's a good point - I've only been into Facebook PPC for a few weeks, but I've found that all my profiting campaigns make a loss every weekend. I don't understand why.
Back in my article marketing days, the weekends always saw huge increases in my profit.
Never really had that problem as it always flucuated and in the end id turn positive ROI, but SOMETIMES its not even worth.... like spending a few thousand bucks to get like 100 bucks isnt good.. ROI is positive but sucks and if your dealing with a lot of money its better to have cash flow then wait a few weeks to get the payment..
for those of us in the game for a long time, you will almost always:
1. see a slump in general in summer
2. see a loss on weekends
3. really need to look into day parting as well...
Honestly, it really varies from offer to offer and traffic source to traffic source.
I had an offer that KILLED IT on weekends for a few traffic sources, the rest
of the days it did ok. Then I tried the same offer on another traffic source and
it was the complete opposite. Same offer, landing page, everything. Just different
audience altogether.
Yeah, different variables will always create different results.
that's why affiliate marketing will never be an exact science.
Day parting is essential escpeccilay on Facebook. When I run Criminal Justice I now have it down to the profitable "pockets" and days that work. By taking the time to analyze the data I have discovered an additional 18% in roi
