Starting July 1st, PPV networks will start seeing a continuing drop in their traffic. The reason? It will become easy for users to uninstall all Adware ie. the toolbars which generate pops and other ads.
For those of you promoting downloads/toolbars, I recommend contacting your advertisers to see what their plan is. It'll be interesting to see how PPV networks plan to adjust to the changes.

They are not able to block malware. How can we trust them to block these illegal adware?
If it works it's going to be a HUGE blow to a couple toolbar demanding networks
..and affiliates. I doubt it'll have that big of an impact.
Many of the adware owners use 50onRed and other similar ad providers that have these features already included.
And some adware "features" are hidden and don't have annoying dhtml type ads that need to be closed, etc, as the article talks about - "features" such as banner replacement.
I would think most of the legit ones have a clear way to uninstall.
I don't think it'll be too bad for most of the well known ones. I think it'll hurt the rogue ones, though.
It'd be a shame because this vertical has been a great way for pubs to make money for years.
As innovative(ish) as Microsoft can be, the good(ish) people in the adware bidnizz will figure out an alternative in small matter of time.
I never really thought the ppv game was in jeopardy of becoming a cat and mouse game to be honest
Most of the install guys aren't installing plugin/toolbars anymore. They're installing things at the same level or lower level then the browser. Chromes changes drove people to do this 6 months ago.
