i've been making quite a few banners following the guide to try to optimise my banners then i realised somehting, my traffic sources are making me bid CPC instead of CPM. so by by trying to optimise banner CTR, i'm basically killing myself right?
1)in this case i should be optimising for something else, probably ROI?
2)and in this case what kind of approach should i take when it comes to creating banners? like the fundamental idea is no longer to try get more clicks but better quality clicks, any guide on how to approach this?
3) im using inmobi and airpush, i've read good stuff about both but both for me are CPC models. any traffic sources(targeting asia) that deals with CPM models that is better reccomended than the current ones that im using? or i should just stick with it? i'm doing app installs atm and i've a feeling CPM model might be better for my ROI.
4) im getting some ridic stats on airplay. maybe someone can help me out here? gonna attach a screenie
thanks for all the help i get in advance!

1. You want to optimise banner CTR regardless of your bidding mode... Traffic sources generally want to maximise their eCPM (how much money they make per impression) and so all else being equal they will deliver higher CTR ads as these make them more money!
2. The role of banners/creatives is always to get user attention, get them to click, and the guide them to convert. Of course a balance between CTR and CVR is going to be ideal but there is no right answer here - a 5% CTR banner converting at 1% may make you just as much money as a a 2.5% CTR banner converting at 2% (all else being equal of course!).
Mix them up and just let the data guide you to which ads make you more money in the circumstances given.
3. CPM is the general choice with mobile purely because of the high CTRs and the non-integer click costs (i.e. can pay $0.0837 average per click rather than being forced to $0.09), which is especially important when your CPMs are so low that you're hitting $0.01 CPC.
Other traffic sources for Asia.... BuzzCity (a.k.a. BuzzShitty) has a lot of Asian traffic and offers CPM. You could also try other self-serve mobile traffic sources and purvey their Asian traffic offerings, e.g. TapIt!, Decisive, JumpTap, etc.
4. How long have you waited for your stats to update... looks like spend is probably being updated more frequently than your impression count.
1. what you actually mean is if my CTR is low, i will have to bid higher in order to compete with other adds who are giving the traffic sources more eCPM and end up lowering my eCPC?
3. i would like to believe that CPM is the general choice, but so far inmobi and airpush only allows me to bid via a CPC model, or is there an alternative where i can bid via a CPM model on their platforms?
4. that must be quite a reasonable explaination. it's been a day though but i can wait.
new question.
i've launch 1 campaign on each platform with a $10 budget each and a CPC of $0.10. i actually started out with one, but there was just too much waiting( getting ads approved, getting impressions), i started 1 more on another campaign hoping it will be better but i still face the same problem, i hardly get any traffic! on airpush i've spent $1.70 and on inmobi i've only spent $0.10 and it has been more than 24 hours since my ads have gone live. so i've bumped up my bid to $0.25. any more bumps makes no sense to me since i'm doing app install that pays out $0.55 and i would need a CR of 45% to breakeven. any advice on what's going on here? isit that my ads arent giving them the eCPM they want and that i should be getting new creatives in or?
thank you very much for taking the time to answer my long winded questions, i really really appreciate all the help you guys have given!
1. Yes, exactly. For a lower CTR you need to bid higher (i.e. pay more per click) to remain competitive in the eyes of the traffic source.
3. Don't know, don't have any experience with them. You could always email support. They may allow it but not by default or to new users.
4. A day? Wow, never mind. Maybe there's some terrible lag going on, or they update daily (ouch?).
N. It could be that your budget is causing issues. Most platforms factor budget into their ad delivery system. Often if budgets are too low, e.g. <$25, the system almost ignores them - as the budget might get depleted too quickly for the system to respond and throttle the campaign. Try raising the budget to $50 but lower the CPC back down (or even to $0.05 if you want to be careful).
