Dating Mobile Campaign Follow-Along

Hello guys,

I tried to run my first mobile campaign 1 or 2 weeks earlier but according to Zeno and Caurmen, the offer wasn't the best for a newbie like me.
I'm now back with another offer (recommended by my AM) which is a dating offer

Mobile dating offer
Payout : $1.75
Traffic : decisive.is
Country : available in United States, United Kingdom, Australia, NZ, Canada and South Africa
Budget : $20 per day and per campaign
bid type → Smart CPM
sizes → 120x600, 300x50, 300x250, 216x36, 168x28, 320x50
Tracking : Prosper202

My campaigns :
I've read few Follow Along here and I understood collecting info is the first step and will allow me to optimize next.
To be honest nothing creative for this Day 1. I've used the creative from A4D and download banners from whatsrunwhere.com. Trying different sizes

That's some pretty wide targeting! You may have trouble extracting patterns from there, except on a CTR basis. I'd normally target 1 campaign to 1 country at least.

However, if you've got the budget, you could potentially run each campaign to $100 or so and see what shakes out conversion-wise, then start building more targeted campaigns based on that data.

Also worth noting - not everyone in South Africa speaks English. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_African_English

Yeah with your budget I would suggest to target 1 country and 1 banner size.

There are so many variable in mobile it would require a big budget to test them all.

So pick 1 country , 1 banner size and move from there.

Thank you for your help. I haven't for the last 2 days because a bit busy but I have some progress to post

Day 3
campaign #1 - Mob+Site
Impressions : 30,626
Clicks : 432
CTR : 1.4%
Spend : $11.21

campaign #2 - Mob+App
Impressions : 56,266
Clicks : 410
CTR : .73%
Spend : $12.21

5 conversions

I've removed banners, countries and OS with low number of clicks. The CPC is $0.02
I now have only 1 banner size and 3 countries : USA, UK and Canada.
I would love to start building more targeted campaigns but I have a problem with tracking. I'm using Prosper202.

A4D is saying 5 conversions but nothing on Decisive and Prosper. So basically I don't know what and how it converts.

04-04-2014 01:01 PM #5 caurmen (Administrator)

You can get a report from A4D listing all the converting subids - that'll let you import them into Prosper.

Then, if you get the bidhashes of the converting clicks in Prosper, you can fire the Decisive pixel and get the conversions into Decisive too.

Nice CTR on the first campaign!

Thank you !

It helps indeed
I can see that one of my campaign was useless.
I now have only one campaign, targeting one banner size and one country (USA)

Day 4
campaign #1 - Mob+Site
Impressions : 72,454
Clicks : 1,114
CTR : 1.5%
Spend : $19.86
CPC : $0.02

6 conversions

Agree, the CTR is pretty good but doesn't convert well.
I'm thinking to test new banners (but still the same size) and see if I can get more conversions. What do you think ?

04-05-2014 03:13 AM #7 zeno (Administrator)

Yes, test new banners and new angles. The CTR is decent so you really need to get the backend working better. Are you using a lander?

04-05-2014 06:18 AM #8 romubrug (AMC Alumnus)

No. Direct link.
I will definitely test new banner and lander. Interesting test indeed. Thanks

04-05-2014 12:20 PM #9 caurmen (Administrator)

I'd definitely recommend testing a couple of landers. Think about what could be stopping people from signing up after they've clicked your banner, and try and bridge that gap with lander copy and images.

04-09-2014 08:18 PM #10 romubrug (AMC Alumnus)

Hey,

Coming back and want to give a quick update of my campaign.
The weekend was very quiet.

4/5/2014
251 clicks
2 conversions

4/6/2014
478 clicks
1 conversion

4/7/2014
353 clicks
0 conversion

My daily budget is $50 and I've spent less than $10 per day this weekend (and monday).

- I had added 3 new banners and added 2 targeted countries : UK and Canada. So basically I now have USA, UK and Canada.

Yesterday much better :
campaign #1 - Mob+Site
Impressions : 205,225
Clicks : 3,319 (I have the number of 2895 on A4D - time zone ?)
CTR : 1.6%
Spend : $20.35
CPC : $0.01
30 conversions

Today so far
Impressions : 255,280
Clicks : 6,341 (2518 on A4D)
CTR : 2.5.%
Spend : $28.10
CPC : $0.01
29 conversions

UK has the highest number of clicks but the day is not over is the US.

Can you tell me why I have a huge difference btw number of clicks btw Decisive and A4D ? My AM told me there are a lot of duplicate clicks.

Thank you

Mobile click loss, duplicate clicks and out-of-geo clicks. What tracking system are you using?

04-10-2014 03:56 AM #12 dnguyen (Member)

Duplicate seems to explain the difference

04-10-2014 01:10 PM #14 ricmed (Member)

Is there a way to check duplicate clicks in the tracker? (like Voluum). I'm also seeing these discrepancies (around 25% loss).

04-11-2014 04:08 AM #15 zeno (Administrator)

In Voluum just go to IP and see how many double ups you have.... i.e. add all numbers greater than 1 together then subtract how many rows there were amongst those non-1 IPs.

I added 2 new banners and the conversion percentage has increased.
I will created 2-3 landers this weekend and see if it affects the number of clics, conversions, ...
The target ? reach $100/day

Cheers

The offer has been paused yesterday. They asked me to pause all offers ASAP due to advertiser demand.

I finished this (my first) campaign with a +100% ROI and I've learned a load of things.
Thanks a lot guys

Nice work man!

Getting kicked off an offer is just part of the game, not all traffic will do well for an advertiser.

The best you can do is learn from the data, especially why the leads might not have been of great quality (though sometimes the offer can suck or have a poor funnel!).

Conclusion? You got some data and got paid for it. Winning in my books.

Sorry to hijack this post.

Can we promote dating ads on Decisive? No problems?

Thanks.
