hi, I have just started running about 15 campaigns and not doing so well at the moment.
I have just started a campaign for insurance leads call getmyinsurance.com from peerfly.
The payout is $11.25.
I am using 50onred.com intext ads with a 300 x 250 image

My keywords list is too long but basically i scraped from google keyword planner using "getmyinsurance.com"
i am bidding $0.1 per click.
I got 230 clicks since last night with majority of the clicks from the keyword "insurance".
Zero conversion still... any comments is humbly appreciated.

50onred traffic is from obtrusive advertising, in text pop ups, and full screen pops..
Their platform is great, support great, fast approvals..
Just low quality traffic.. maybe good to build a list and email the offer to it?
Best success I had with them (apart from popping over some products) was with Italian traffic.. but it soon died out.
I've never really heard good things about 50onRed as a traffic source from a quality point of view.
Whilst I know some people have made it somewhat profitable, given you're still fairly early in your development I'd probably recommend a change of traffic source to something that's a bit more reliable.
thanks for the fast comments. what would be a good traffic source that i should look into.
I am getting some small conversions (one or two daily) for my gaming offer but that is quite miserable
Should i go into PPC?
leadgens and surveys work well on 50onred, even for quality. Most volume is indeed in Italy but also AU, US, BR. Your rep should be able to give you that info.
currently 397 clicks with zero conversion.
thanks!!! I will try some survey offers
Someone who buys insurance is in a very different behavioural and psychological state than someone who is downloading a game or entering a survey contest.
Unless the person was already "in the market" to buy insurance to begin with, you will struggle to get this person to buy insurance just on a whim.
Someone who purchases an insurance product is driven by very different behavioural motivations than someone who downloads a mobile game, for example. The first is a considered purchase, whereas the latter is usually an impulse one. You can very easily convince someone to download latest new Candy Crush/Minecraft/Clash of Clans etc.
Without some external motivating force, on the other hand, you can't easily convince someone to buy insurance. No one wakes up in the morning saying, "Awesome! I feel great! I'm gonna buy me some insurance today!"
I am not saying that you cannot push insurance on channels such as 50onRed. You definitely can. But you need to understand your target market's mindset first, and then adapt your marketing tactics and channels to your target, instead of just taking a one-size-fits-all approach.
Cmdeal raises a very good point. A good point that is also related to the fundimental cause of newbie failure.
When you push anything you shouldnt just jump in make creatives set them up on traffic source and wait for a miracle. You must first due proper research, build an "avatar" of who your target customer is, what his/her problems are and then come up with solutions (angles) that solve their problems. When i started thinking like so and not trying to throw stuff at the wall see what sticks is when it all changed and i started making positive roi. Good luck
thanks for the insights. in your opinions, what are the types of offers that one can do profitably on ppv.
I was looking at surveys but the payout are really low.. $0.5 to $2.00. When you compared such payouts against the cost of PPV ($0.01),
the odds of getting profitable is low.
As for insurance, I guess I sort of get you. The intent of the person behind the computer must be at the end stage of the purchasing cycle and
that he is already looking to purchase an insurance, before he will commit to an insurance deal.
So if I create a review website for payday loans or auto-insurance (loaded with articles and blog posts of reviews of different payday loans or insurance),
and buy PPC traffic to the site, will it work better? I would presume it to be so..
It would work better but your ppc will be fecking high to test an offer properly.
PPV works fine with lower-payout offers. You just need your CVR high enough to make your campaign profitable!
I've been quietly optimising a PPV campaign with a payout below $0.40 lately - it's perfectly doable.
that long form hardly ever converts, try a zip version.
caurmen,
the cost of PPV for popular url on 50onred is at least $0.05 to $0.1. thats expensive and it makes it difficult to make money from offers that pays $3 or less.
I am doing it with direct linking cos lots of people are saying it is possible to make money using direct linking.
how do you optimise your campaigns? and do u have hundreds of target urls on your ppv campaigns?
thanks again!
Ouch. That's a hell of a price to pay for a PPV view. I don't know 50onred well enough to know how practical it is to make those sorts of traffic costs convert - anyone?
The offer payout doesn't actually make much difference as far as making a campaign profitable - otherwise we'd all be running credit cards, payday loans, and CPS offers!
Lots of target URLs - well, it's been a while since I ran on that sort of PPV traffic source, but yes, I'd generally recommend a decent amount of targets. However, I will defer here to our other STM members with more experience of URL-targeting PPV sources.
For what it's worth, I'd almost never run PPV direct-linked except to do an initial test of an offer. Generally if I'm doing PPV I'm going to use the traffic to test a lot of initial landers. However, again, I'm not particularly expert in PPV so would be interested to hear what our more hardcore PPV users have to say about the viability of direct-linked campaigns.
50onred US traffic is expensive, and shit..
Go for European traffic if anything from them..
Like Caurmen, I've got a few small PPV campaigns that have been running for months, with lead impact. Payout is less than $4 .. but there is enough volume and CTR to make them over 100% ROI.. just got to find the right offer for the right target.
thats amazing. Are you running direct linking or with landing pages for your offers?
landing pages.. I've 6 campaigns that just run.. I spend maximum $20 a day each, but often they don't hit the spend.. they've been going for months, and still not detected by boxofads ha..
that sounds really perfect!
Are there any selection criteria for choosing campaigns that u practise?
i look for offers
1.that pays between $3 to $6,
2. landing page of merchant that I would actually click on,
3. alexa ranking of merchant < 300000
first.. I think of a service that is an instant solution to the problem of people who may be landing on a domain.. I find domains that provide information about a niche or categorized topic/product/service.. are the best.. and test from there.
Then find more similar domains.. in bulk.
what would you recommend? Thx
A good point about intent was mentioned.
People who buy insurance tend to be seeking it, which suggests your targeting should focus on where those people hang out. (Url targets: buying cars, not happy with current insurance as they did meet expectations, purchasing mortgages, buying food for pets, buying solar panels and more)
Also the sites your ads are on check demographic data to the offer, it's a waste if your targeting sites that 15-18yrs are hanging out and your offer is more for 30yrs+.
Then qualify the people to see if they are the right fit for what you're offering, which means landing pages that warm up potential customers, give a sense of assurance that you are covering their needs with no questions.
For you to get some clicks see which was driving that mainly and build landers on that covering the fears of the offer category.
If they are clicking, something drew them in understand what, then build out from that, an alternative would be try to email contacts which you can then mail yearly to offer different insurance or complimentary services.
