Significant data - When do you call it quits on a campaign?

Hi Fellow Stackers!

I just joined the STM forum yesterday, and before starting my first campaign I'd like to get as much info from the site as possible. Most of the info is already here, but I haven't really seen anyone mention how much data they let a campaign accumulate before ditching it and moving onto another.

Some people have mentioned dollar amounts, but how many clicks would you generally let a specific targetting method accumulate for an offer before you decide that the targetting (and/or offer as a whole) isn't worth any more of your focus and you move onto the next one?

Hi jezdee,

I'm still new too but have been spending a lot of time reading Caurmen's getting started guide. Here's where the guide starts to detail cutting ads:

http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...he-Winning-Ads

As per the guide, I've been removing ads that have not had a click after 1500 impressions. And removing ads that don't have a 0.1% CTR after 5000 impressions. Then it's all about pulling the right levers to further increase CTR and essentially EPC...

You want to spend 5-10x the payout of the offer. Thats the simple rule.

It will greatly vary depending on how different your ads are, landing pages etc..

ex:
If you have 3 VERY different style of ads and 3 unique landing pages, you'll want to spend more than 5x because you won't get enough data... but if you're only testing 4 very similar ads and 1 landing page, then 5x the payout will suffice for you to decide if the campaign is good or not. Always run 10+ campaigns though before jumping to a new traffic source.

Hey stackman - as mentioned above, I've been looking at cutting ads that don't have a click after 1.5k impres and that don't have a min CTR of 0.1% after 5k impress. Is that not the best way to do it?

If I need to spend 5-10x the payout of the offer, say my offer pays $4.5, should I spend at least $22.5 on each ad for that campaign?
