Trafficsource: Trafficjunky
Placement Type: NTV
Geo: FR
Daily Budget: $300
Objective: To collect an arsenal of funnels that generate 100%+ ROI
This has been my journey so far..
Step1
-I tested a bunch of offers initially, and found one that converts best for me
Step2
-Used spied banners and direct linked the offer to them. My best banners converted at an average of 6%.
-Spent: $115 Made: $89
Step3
-Ripped a couple of landers and linked them each to two of my best banners. This was profitable initially and started getting volatile a few days later
-Spent: $2266 Made: $2548
Step4
-Used 5 banners & 4 ripped landers, and tested 20 banner-lander combinations, including the ones in step3. This test was a disaster. Not even one banner-lander combo was profitable and I was left with good-for-nothing data
-Spent: $847 Made: 552
Step5(Ongoing)
-So far all the spied creatives I have been using were stuff like "This is not a dating site", "Stop Masturbating", and "You might see someone you know". These were not angles/ consistent funnels. I decided to stop being a thieving cunt and make my own creatives.
-I started testing 8 typical angles. Tested one banner per angle and added more variations to those that showed potential.
-Spent: $422 Made: $160. This is how the stats look :

What do you guys think? Point me in the right direction!
Don't run straight ripped landers, split test headlines try new things. You never know what the competition is doing to make those landers work, whether it be exclusive rates, blazing fast servers, perfect banner/ad combos, direct buy rates etc
I would start to split test your own images/headlines on working lander templates and go from there, work on step 3 and keep going from there
Thanks Maynzie!
I hear you!
I am currently testing these angles on the template that worked for me in step3. I'll keep you posted!
Here's an update!
Last two days, I worked on the variations Maynzie recommended. Stuck to the template that worked earlier; changed headlines, changed girls on the banner, and added transitions
Spent: $227 Made: $128
This test converted at an average 2.15%.
I need it to convert at 4% for break-even, at 6% for a 50% ROI, and at 8% for the targeted ROI of 100%
A couple of the variations I tried in this test converted at around 6% over a few leads. Need to collect statistically significant data and cut the duds.
How close are you to statistical significance, and how are the individual variations doing? Whilst you're split-testing, average CVR doesn't matter - only the individual peaks!
Hey caurmen!
I totally get what you mean..Right now, these two have been my best combinations, i.e this is how one ad performed with two lander variations. They are closest to the 4% cvr required to break-even.

So I added 3 more banners with images of girls that look very similar to the one in this ad. Would you recommend that or would you go to work on the landers?
Yesterday's stats:
Spent: $308 Made: $172
All banner+lander combinations have converted closer to an average 2% and the combinations in the last post remain the best ones yet.
Gonna keep changing the girls. Trying to find more soft core images, cos there is not a lot of nudity on the offer page, and I'm trying to keep the funnel consistent.
How are the landers doing in isolation (ignoring the ads)?
Are your landers all similar? If so, I'd recommend testing some more outliers - try some really outlandish stuff, change big things, and see if you can move the needle a significant amount. All tests converging tends to be a sign that you're not testing broadly enough - the graph of CVRs on a good test should have lots of ups and downs, rather than being smooth and mostly even.
Hi
LP's also converted at around 2%.
A quick recap: I rotated a few spied banners and landers. One of those combinations gave me a 30% ROI, but stopped converting after a week
Everything I have been doing since is a variation on that template. Changing angles, headlines, girls and stuff. Not been able to beat that score
Can you add me on skype? My skype id is dwarakiq. I'd really appreciate it if you can take a look at my creatives
Yesterday- Spent: $316 Made: $116
From the testing in the last few days, I have discovered 5 banner+lander combinations that convert in between 4%-4.5%. Thats breakeven!
If i manage to get 8 people to convert out of a 100 clicks, I will hit my target ROI. I'm a halfway through!
Now my question is should I focus on getting cheaper clicks or should I work on improving LP CTR? Or should I just concentrate on individual banner+lander combinations?
My average cpc is at $0.16 and LP CTR is 35%. To send atleast a 100 clicks to the offer, I need to spend atleast $45 on each banner+lander combination.
Given my daily budget ($300) & the size of the placement, I can only test 7 or 8 combinations.
How do you think I should proceed?
NICE! Congrats on hitting break-even.
I'd recommend focusing on reducing your click costs at this point, as that will reduce the cost of your overall testing.
I know that you're being very rigorous and testing banner+lander combinations, but you might want to consider split-testing elements of your landers that are unlikely to be affected by your banner at the same time. For example, you could split-test some CTAs whilst you're also testing new banners, thus getting more value out of your spend.
Feel free to PM me if you'd like me to have a look at your creatives! Skype's a terrible way to get hold of me, but I'm happy to chat by PM or email.
That suggestion makes perfect sense to me. This way, I can manage my budget better. Thanks! Will keep you posted!
Been a while since I posted to this thread. I had funding and reporting issues with my trafficjunky account. Took some time to get the issue resolved and I had to pause the campaigns. But my account is back now. I've been trying to keep myself busy and here's whats been happening:
- Profitability Achieved! I found a funnel that converts at 6%. I'm at 50% ROI now!
- Tried to find variations for the banner. Changing the girls on the banner didn't work. But changing the background colour on the banners did and a couple of banners have beaten the original, and are converting at close to 7%
- Got my payout bumped by $0.40 cents
- There's bad news too! So far, I've managed to stay among the top two bidders on the placement. But some moron outbid me last night and there's no way I can match that bid. It's almost twice my current bid. I'm no longer able to spend $300 on the placement
While the campaigns were temporarily paused on TJ, I took the campaign to Exoclick premium placements. Its showing potential on a few big placements and is already profitable on a few small ones. There's not much traffic in those sites though.
I tried it on trafficforce as well and that was a complete disaster
What do you think should be my next steps??
Congrats on ur profibilaty! If you dont mind me asking, what tracking are you using? I really like that feature where it shows ur combo stats. Im using prosper and I don't think I have that feature.
Thanks Maynzie!!
That guy disappeared. I'm the top bidder again now. Did investigate him and have the offer too!
Now I have only 3 profitable banners. Should I be worried about saturation? What percentage of my daily budget should I dedicate to finding more funnels?
And does anybody here use the ad weight feature on TJ? How does that work?
Got it! Thanks, that was very helpful
