How do i choose a partner in AM

I have heard over and over on the forum a partner can be a life changing (or campaign changing) experience. BUT.....

How do you choose a partner?

When you do have a partner how should that partnership work?

Do we have to bring the same thing to the table or do we have fill each others weaknesses?

I am not good with being creative when it comes to designing banners or LP, but i am working on that. I am however good at coming up with crazy ideas for angles. I am planting my foot in the mobile market. I will be the KING of mobile . I just want to know how do i find and work with a partner so together we can get there.

I don't have any experience with a partner but one thing I can absolutely recommend is find someone who is doing the same niche as you and is on the same level. It is tremendous help to have someone to bounce some ideas around and to get a 2nd opinion if you need it

Find a partner that is more experienced than you, if you can

"Fill each others weaknesses". Is a huge point.

The whole partnership is built on trust. Then secondly, a balanced work load.

If I were you, I would just start a "Looking for campaign partner" thread. Then write down a list of things you suck at. That's what you want your partner to be skilful in. Obviously mention what you rock at too.

Get on some skype calls and see how you guys click.

Some guys are super skilled with design and programming but strapped for cash, that's another way you can help a lot. It doesn't need to be 50/50. But make sure expectations are clear, and written down.

I tried to find partner for quite long, too much time I partnered with guys that has much less motivation then me, but they told me yea, lets do it, but when it come to results and show effort I was disappointed..

So when you start I think its better give it a trail time for both of you, and also set expectation, it will make it more serious and have more chances to stick..

Same as bad habit, bad relationship should be cut quickly..

Many people like to just jump to a solution without first asking themselves what is the problem I am trying to solve?

Unless you know what problem you are trying to solve, it is premature to jump to any solution.

So, what is the problem you are trying to solve?

For each of these (and infinite other) problems, finding a business partner may be one of the potential solutions, or it may not.

For example, if you are trying to solve a skills gap, some potential solutions include build, buy or ally. You can try to develop the skills yourself, or hire someone who has those skills, or partner with someone who has these skills. Each one of these choices can have drastically differing risk-reward scenarios and pros & cons.

Is there going to be one correct answer for every single situation?

Of course not.

It is going to differ based on who you are, your ambitions, your personality, your values, the scale of your business and the amount of capital you bring.

You should treat finding a business partner like marriage ... namely you should take it very seriously. When it works, like a great marriage, it is one of the most powerful forces in the world.

Unfortunately (once again like marriage) too many people do not take it seriously enough.

Should that partnership then be entered into as a business or just word of mouth? How do you even calculate how to split profit, if one person does the creative design with 30% of cash, and the other does the technical and campaign setups with 70% of cash. How do you even know how to split that.

I think the best way is to meet people face to face on conference / meetups.

Apart from that, talking to people on STM or mastermind groups can also help.

Based on your other thread, i think you're jumping the gun too soon for an AM partner. You need a good set of skills in the industry first so you can partner with someone of similar value with complimentary skills.
