Hey guys. So I'm new to the forum and have enjoyed every minute of it. I started a Facebook campaign to test the waters and learn some new tricks. I began by first optimizing an ad campaign to get me likes on my fan page. I used 6 different images all with the same headlines, body text, and demographics. I used 5 dollars for a maximum budget. At first, the 6 campaigns overall were averaging .30 per like which was definitely way too much for my taste. I chose the best ad out of the 6 which was getting me he highest ctr. I then reused the same image and optimized the title. I started getting a 1.9% ctr and paying .03 cents per like. Compared to some of the numbers shared on this forum, this seemed like a good start. Now I am using the same successful ad, but to get conversions on my site. I spend 15$ so far and haven't received a single conversion. Should I go ahead and modify the ad, or should I start split testing my opt in page for my mailing list? I am paying a lot more and getting less reach. Does that just mean that my ad needs to be modified more to receive better conversions? My bid is set to automatic, should I manually set that per conversion? And I heard that there's a way I can modify what I'm paying for, such a clicks on my website, clicks on my page, etc because Facebook by default has all these selected by default? Thanks guys, I appreciate all your help.
1.9CTR / $.3 per like is pretty good. What's your CTR on the winning ad when you're going for conversions?
My initial thoughts would be to test more images. But if you're getting a low CPC and seeing some traffic, look at other metrics like LPCTR, your angle etc.
Great start, and welcome to STM! Looking forward to more input (PS: don't be afraid of adding some more whitespace to your posts, so they're easier to read.
but not
too much)
I think you have to change the Ad. I don't know your copy but the intention of your ad is different. First it was to get likes, now for conversions.
"And I heard that there's a way I can modify what I'm paying for, such a clicks on my website, clicks on my page, etc because Facebook by default has all these selected by default? Did you setup different campaigns for news feed mobile and news feed desktop? Huge difference of 'use of intention' from the Facebook users. Example from my own experience: If you want likes, use mobile news feed and try to get your CTR around 4 or 5%. With a big reach you will get likes lower than .01.
Thanks for the tips! My CTR for the winning conversion is 1.036%.
Ya, I think I need to run a separate campaign for conversions and optimize from there. I didn't know I could select news feed mobile? That's a game changer! Thanks for all your help.
If you bid oCPM you can bid more for specific actions, e.g. clicks/likes/actions, but you can't change what interactions you pay for. If you could we could all run campaigns on a CPA basis and be away laughing.
