Hi all,
Just a quick warning for all; facebook sees EVERY action on your newsfeed ad as a 'click'. Whether it's a 'like', a click to your associated page, a share, etc. For direct response campaigns usually run by affiliate marketers, this is obviously not the type of 'cost per click' you want to track!
To measure the right CTR and CPC, you need to go into your report and navigate to both 'actions' and 'cost per action' and check the boxes next to WEBSITE clicks! These are the clicks that go away from Facebook and to your actual website; the clicks that you want to track!

Some of you might already know this, but I for one didn't and as a consequence ended up running bogus numbers on my campaigns for a full week!
This is especially important for offers which require lots of manual monitoring because they don't do postback to your beloved CPVlab/P202 install (teespring for example).
Yea, but I've seen many times clicks to the associated page and then on to my website from a url on the page, so those clicks are also good but not tracked as clicks to website
Sometimes it's worth testing the "right side" only ads.
Your CTR will drop but those people will be clicking directly to the site (not your Fanpage).
For some campaigns - I turn off the mobile newsfeed and also the "newsfeed" story and advertise directly to my landing page. That's worked out considerably better - but my CTR's drop from >2% (yeah BABY!) to less than 1%.
I find the addition of the "shop now" button greatly helps my website CTR. But yeah, right side ads have their place, although CTR is pretty dismal.
My experience shows that the more curious your ads make your audience - the higher the CTR is going to be (think ViralNova style ads: "#4 really crushed me" etc.).
If your audience already knows what's exactly in the URL they're going to either like the post or ignore it, but not click it.
If your ad has a mysterious element to it - you'll see that mose of the clicks/actions are website clicks and not likes/comments/shares.
With high CPMs as with news feed ads - high CTR is crucial.
This way I've been able to reach $0.02 in US news feed ads even for the most general audience possible.
Just my two cents.
Any way to make clicks to your Facebook page redirect to your tracking link so you recapture those clicks?
Guys facebook is full of bots, I think around 10-15% traffic is bots, those bots are also click on ads to mimic normal user behavior so think of it when you look on your data and compare it other sources
Its quite easy to spot them if you look on thier profiles..
There are less mobile bots, but they still there..
Much bigger problem is that Facebook is actually charging you for those useless clicks. I have like 60 websites clicks and 40 trash clicks on image or like and I'm getting charged for 100 clicks. That's why I was asking whether there is an option to somehow promote mobile app via mobile app install ads even if you have an affiliate link and no direct one into App Store.
I would have much more profitable campaigns if I wasn't paying for useless trash clicks all over my ad.
