Try to do a quick test in my facebook account. I select the option "clicks to website". after putting title/description and uploading the banner, in the right column ad section, it tells me " Unable to display a preview of this ad:". not sure why. I am using chrome with no extension. So, I tried out a few different links to understand. Can anyone help explain? Thank you.
1. http://myaffliatenework.com/?a=xxxxx&c=xxxxx&s1=
This is the exact link from my affiliate network.
The minute I put in that link, it tells me that "You've entered a destination that can't be promoted. Please choose a different destination"
2. http://www.mydomain.net/tracking202/...d=xxxx&t202kw=
This is my proper tracking link pointing to link 1.
no problem with the link. No "can't be promoted" error . But, when I try to preview(right column), it says "Unable to display a preview of this ad:"
3. http://www.mydomain.net/
No problem at all.
4. http://www.google.com
No problem at all.
"http://YOURaffliatenework.com/" is blocked by facebook.
go here and check https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/
Even if you use mydomain.net and redirect it to http://myaffliatenework.com it won't work.
Facebook parses your URL when you first put it in or make changes to it. If there is a blacklisted URL there or as the destination then it will block it and blacklist your specific link. Basically, you need to wise up on your tracking setup so that you don't let FB ever see an affiliate link.
update actually, it reports
"This link is blocked. If you think you're seeing this by mistake, please let us know."
======
I check the url with https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/
Here is what I got. looks like points to google somehow...
Response Code 200
Fetched URL http://myaffliatenework.com/?a=xxxxx&c=xxxxx&s1=
Canonical URL http://www.google.com/
Probably the out-of-geo redirect going to google.com (which is a hell of a lot better than what they usually do). In any case, myaffiliatenetwork.com will be blacklisted. This is usually the case, but you should never be direct linking to an affiliate link on Facebook.
