On many recommendations I ended up choosing Adobe Muse for landing page design. Unfortunately many of the coding features I see mentioned seem more difficult to implement in Muse.
Specifically, right now I'm having a hard time figuring out how to use the POFPRO landing page CTR tracking code.
On the POFPRO page they list the code as:
<a href="http://www.mydomain.com/p/tracking/exit-page.php">[Your call-to-action text link or image goes here]</a>
It says to use this code in your landing page where you want to link to your offer.
I had already made my call to action button using a text box and hyperlink to my offer. I can't figure out how to duplicate that look with the following code included.
Can any Muse ninjas explain this to me?
Many thanks,
Evan
Okay I think I may have figured it out. What I missed was that POFPRO automatically rotates in the correct offer (pretty cool, imo).
I've gotten the landing page previewed in the browser. It looks how I would like AND it links to the correct offer while still using the POFPRO tracking code.
However now I'm left with a call to action link which exposes my domain name. As a few people pointed out to me this makes it super easy to rip my images and landers. Prior to incorporating the POFPRO code it showed the offer page url with my affiliate ID attached.
I guess I'll change my question. Is there any way in the Muse code to mask my domain name and still comply with the POFPRO tracking?
Thanks
Nomad, use Muse to design landers > export them as HTML and then edit them afterward with any editor you choose - Notepad++, Dreamweaver, etc. Muse is for making a visual mockup not for implementing code changes - this is done by hand.
As for domain names, the lander presumably doesn't need to be under the same domain name as your tracking system so why not have the lander on domain.com and the tracking on mypoftracking.com? People are going to see your domain names regardless so there is little point trying to hide the tracking domain. In any case, peopel can only rip your landers/images if they can find them. If you have indexes disabled they can't just browse your server. So, don't be silly and call things lp1, lp2, lp3, call them lp1a7, lp2g6, lp3xx, etc.
Thanks (as always), Zeno!
I did see how to export and edit. The problem is I have basically zero knowledge of coding. It's becoming increasingly evident that I'll need to learn at least some.
As for worrying about the domain name....I didn't know about turning off indexes. Previously going to www.mydomain.com showed the world my public_html. I've since turned off indexes and that isn't an issue anymore. As I go through this journey I'm seeing more and more that whatever step I thought would require learning 1 or 2 new things actually requires learning 10.
So once again, thank you for putting up with total amateurs and giving invaluable feedback!
Yeah, you are going to need to have at least a basic understanding of html and how to edit html code after exporting the lander - since you need to integrate tracking pixels, php content, etc. Fortunately IM isn't as easy as build lander > export > upload > send traffic to lander > money wired to your bank account.
I agree with that.
My wife and I were discussing this over dinner last night. I'm certainly glad it isn't a cake walk. I'd prefer to have to endure a bunch of headaches and bust my ass to make it. It makes it that much more sustainable for those who do.
