on the ground field report about bangkok political unrest

hey money stackers, I arrived in bangkok a few nights ago...I love this city possibly more than any city in the world (and i am from manhattan, NYC so I know a thing or two about amazing food and nightlife)....anyway, if you are at all concerned about the political unrest here that is being reported in the media, I have today's edition of the Bangkok Post in front of me and the drama is pretty much over. it looks like the two sides will enter into negotiations.

either way, none of it should affect your stay in bangkok in any way. the only evidence that I saw was last night when I was walking over to Soi Cowboy (to visit the bar featured in Hangover Part 2) and a road was shut down for a 'protest.' the protest consisted of a kick-ass Thai metal band (sounded like Megadeth) playing on a huge stage with a big crowd and people waving thai flags and partying.

I was the only white dude in the crowd and it was all good. one big party. I have no idea which side of the political argument the band was supporting.

so, dont worry about any of this bangkok drama. thailand rocks and this will probably disappear from the news completely in a day or two.

They cleared the road today. No more protests in the area you are speaking about.

Also, pm sent.
