$3000/month budget Where to get started.

My mind is racing. The more i read the more it races. There are some many paths to be taken in Am, I want to try them all but of coarse I can't. I would love feedback as to the best approach. I am somewhat experienced with PoF. tried it last year spend about $200 made $60. At the time i wasn't knowledgeable on optimizing and testing and my budget was not what it was today. I have a high paying job with a good savings. Most of my income is unused so i have a bit to invest. I love working on the computer/internet. My day job is as a System Engineer. I just want to work on my on pace and for myself.

My problem I am not 100% sure where to start of in my AM business. I read alot of recommendation for PoF, i am just wandering is there still a market, is it saturated. Should i still try? Do the community have a better solution? I thought about a FB campaign in a post i made but that didn't turn out well. Any ideas will help. Also I am in the Florida area anyone in the area that would like to partner up PM me. I believe working together can really help in the field.

Thank you for your replies

Id say mobile. But maybe dont just do what everyone else is doing. Explore other mobile traffic sources IE: desktop traffic which OFFERS mobile targeting like (for example) adfly, pof mobile ads. Countless other sources affs arent even aware of. My 2c. i'll expand on what ive said 'cos im sat waiting for a pizza... I remember 6 months or so ago (it may have changed now) adfly only offered mobile targeting as a broad category, no splitting between android and ios. This may put a few affiliates off but within 15mins you can google some php cleverness to split the two and send android to one offer and ios to another. US traffic is saturated and expensive but india for example is cheap and quite plentiful. I was only testing a handful of offers but the 2nd/3rd one i tried converted at 90%+ roi, and u could just let it run, was maybe only $10 /day but for someone starting out, its moral boosting and can help pay for testing other sources. Pizza should be ready now, gnom gnom :-D

pof mobile traffic even lower than desktop traffic, and pof just got massively saturated by all the recent FB bannee's - bunch of idiots copy pasting my ads and bidding too high It should get better in a few weeks when they all get sick of losing money and I can get my roi back

What do you mean by app installs. Is that mobile traffic FB traffic?

@keepitsimple- one thing i've always wondered with all the recommendation to PoF an it be that profitable. When i look around i see the same pictures same landing floating around.

Anyone else has advice as to what i should get into for my budget?

I would veer toward mobile campaigns, app CPI offers and so on. However you will need to put serious effort in - not to be insulting but I get the feeling you are looking for a 'comfortable' and 'easy' way to invest your money. This does not exist in AM. It is an inherently risky business and you need to put in substantial effort to make things work.

What are your strengths? What verticals do you most associate with?

At the moment, I'd probably recommend mobile as the best source to get started in if you've got a reasonable budget (and $3k pm qualifies). Decisive, in particular, are a great traffic source, and it's a reasonably untapped market right now.

The usual reasons for recommending POF are that it's very friendly to affiliates (not a lot of other sources where you can ask the guy in charge why your ads got rejected) and it's got superb targeting, meaning that it's easier to get started with highly niche-targeted campaigns to build up your cashflow and your confidence.

Iamatilla makes a really good point. Whilst it's a bad idea to jump from traffic source to traffic source or vertical to vertical - you've got to put the time in to learn one - people really underestimate how important it is to "get on" with the vertical and source you're promoting. Understanding your target audience, being OK with the ethics of what you're promoting, knowing the market you're in, not hating your traffic source's particular foibles - those are all surprisingly important.

(Of course, finding a traffic source that's not saturated and offers that are popular is also important!)

There's more potential for profit out there than any one person could possibly tap into - the trick is to find the best niche for you

Thank you so much for the advice greatly appreciated. Not necessarily "comfortable or easy. I have no problem investing my time and money into any vertical and giving it my all. But at the same time from what i can gather your budget kind of dictates where you can get started. I just wanted to make sure that with my budget I was starting somewhere capable of that, and if that means a less saturated traffic source them by all means that is a plus. I can take my testing budget to further lengths.

I've been lucky that my day job is good pay, and a bonus is that i work from home. I plan to use all that to blaze a path in AM for me.

What's a good network for doing app installs? I'm doing some gaming stuff right now, but it's pretty much just web.

Just avoid ambiguity and use "god spede", the phrase from which it all began.
