Advertising Analytics ROI Software/Website?

Hi,

I'm going to be doing a big push in advertising using different methods like email, ppc (adwords, bing, facebook ads), affiliate networks, forum banner ads, etc.

I use Google Analytics which is great as a free method of tracking traffic on the site, but I'm looking for a better method where I can easily track conversions on different steps and conversion pages.

Can anyone recommend any good analytics software/website that is good to track ROI measurements from all different traffic sources?

I want to be able to get a read on what advertising methods are working and which need improvement on or need to be stopped.

Thank you!

After researching this more; what I think I'm looking for is "tracking conversion and ROI" marketing analysis software.

I cam across this site but have not heard about them before. Can anyone recommend some good "tracking conversion and ROI" marketing analysis software?

Thank you!

Are you driving traffic to a single-page site (a landing page) or a complex multi-page setup?

Probably a couple different landing pages; depending on what my ad is targeting...

In that case, I'd recommend a standard affiliate marketing tracking platform. STM actually has its own full-featured tracker you can use free: http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...-Tracker-V3-V4 . Alternatively there are several exciting new platforms out there - Voluum is getting good responses right now, for example - and more coming soon.

Ok, thank you...I'll check it out!

Caurmen,

With the STM tracking platform can I track the number of lead conversions I'm receiving monthly from specific affiliate networks?

I have to provide the billing numbers each month to the affiliate network I'm working with, and with my current setup I'm not able to see which conversions on my website were brought in by affiliates from the affiliate network or by other methods that are non-affiliated related.

Thank you!

Create a separate campaign for the affiliate network or always append a specific keyword/c-value, .e.g. c7=aff. There are lots of ways you could go about this but it's hard to know without having a more detailed description of what you're doing.

Ok, thank you!

The affiliate network referred me to using affiliate tracking software like "hasoffers.com" and "getcake.com"; however, I don't want to have to pay $300+ for this if I can do this for free using prosper202 on my own domain. Does prosper202 have the same features as "hasoffers.com" and "getcake.com"?

To provide some more detail, I basically provide the affiliate network (affiliates) with the link to my landing page: http://www.domain.com/landing/

And now when affiliates are using my landing page I'm seeing links on my website like: http://www.domain.com/landing/?affid...subid=45616864

So if the traffic I'm seeing from the affiliates converts to a lead; I have no idea if the lead I'm seeing on my website came from this affiliate network or other non-affiliate means.

I installed prosper202 already, but I'm lost to how I need to set this up so it works properly. I want to be able to see in prosper202 a list of all the "leads" that were brought in by affiliates on this network, and allow me to export these "leads" by date so I can let the affiliate network know how many leads were brought in by their affiliates.

I have the affiliate network's image pixel saved on the "confirmation" page where the conversion is tracked.
- On my DOI offer this happens when the lead verifies their email address and they are taken to the confirmation thank you page.
- On my SOI offer this happens when the lead finishes submitting the form and they are redirected to a thanks page.

I tried setting this up on my prosper202 account but there are so many different sections (#1 Traffic Sources, #2 Categories, #3 Campaign, #4 Landing Page, etc.) that I'm confused on how to set this up properly to get the affiliate tracking I need for billing.

So for example I run 2 offers with this affiliate network; I'll break down the data I have and if someone can point me in the right direction on how to set this up in prosper202 it would be greatly appreciated!

SOI Offer:
Landing Page: https://www.domain.com/users/get_started
Conversion (Img Pixel) Page: https://www.domain.com/users/thanks

DOI Offer:
Landing Page: http://www.domain.com/landing/
Conversion (Img Pixel) Page: http://www.domain.com/confirmation.php - This page is shown when the user clicks the link they receive in their email.

I'm guessing whatever I need to do in prosper202 will provide me with new "Landing Page" URL links for these 2 offers that I would then need to provide to my affiliate network this way I can track the "lead" conversions they send me properly?

Can someone please guide me through the steps of setting this up properly in prosper202? If what I mentioned about is something that prosper202 can do?

Thank you!

HasOffers and Cake are completely different to p202. They are built for different things. Both can do basically what p202 can do but are more advanced and holistic in what they try to achieve. They are also not self-hosted.

This sounds like a situation where you want cookies + postback URL tracking to make sure you keep track of everything. Vanilla prosper202 uses cookies whereas the STM modded P202 does not. You could certainly set up a STM p202 installation for this setup but it will take some work to ensure it is all working correctly. For example, if you are sending traffic to the same page by different means you may want to give the affiliate network a tracking link rather than a just the lander URL - so all their traffic is tracked separately to anything coming into your landing page URL directly. For traffic coming in directly you will need a different setup as the STM modded p202 starts the tracking process via it's own link that redirects users to your landing page.

This may sound overly complex, it probably does. I would recommend actually hiring someone to help you set this up as getting it wrong could waste your time, cause problems for your relationship with the affiliate network, lose you leads, etc. Furthermore, p202 and the STM modded version are self-hosted so if your server has any issues it will impact everything. Saving money on Cake/HasOffers is all well and good but what if your product starts pushing $xx,xxx daily? What if your server goes down and you have dozens of affiliates crying bloody murder and wanting compensation for $x,xxx in lost revenue?

Can I just confirm here - is this an offer you own?

If the traffic flow you're wanting to check is affiliate networks -> offer that you own, Cake is probably a good choice for a platform to check out. Many of the affiliate networks also use it, so it'll probably integrate well.

Prosper 202 will also cope with the flow you're talking about, though: you'd create a separate tracking link for each affiliate network to the landing page, then place your own confirmation pixel from Prosper next to the affiliate network's pixel.

However, Prosper won't track organic traffic, just traffic coming to its tracking URLs. I don't know if Cake will. To be honest, if you want to track a mixture of affiliate and organic traffic onto a website entirely owned and controlled by you I'd be inclined to steer you back to Google Analytics or another similar analytics package (GetClicky?), using custom campaign parameters to track incoming affiliate traffic, and goals to track conversions - that's what I do on some websites/offers I control.

Yes, this is for my own offer. That's why I feel it shouldn't be as difficult to set up for me since I have access to put any tracking code on my pages.

However, Prosper won't track organic traffic, just traffic coming to its tracking URLs.
Ok, that's fine. I will only be using this to track any specific advertising methods I use (adwords, affiliate network, banners, etc.), but most importantly right now would be to track affiliate conversions so I can properly send this to my affiliate network.

Ok, this sounds like it would work too with Prosper202; where do I start? haha...

Ok, I wanted to use Google Analytics (GA) but the affiliate network manager I work with stated that I wouldn't have the capability to track the leads with GA. However, if there is a way to do this with GA I'm all up for it.

By using a custom campaign URL link this would allow me to create a unique URL for this affiliate network that points to my landing page; right? Then with the goals setup I would be able to see the conversions that are made; right? However, would I be able to view only the goals (lead conversion) that came from the custom campaign URL link I made for the affiliate network and export them to an Excel file?

Thank you!

To answer briefly - yes, using custom GA URLs and goals you'd be able to narrow down to just the leads that came from each affiliate network. However, I don't know how the affiliate networks would feel about using custom GA URLs - as cmdeal says, you may well be better using the industry standard!
