I just launched my first campaign and i noticed i got a click through+ a conversion on cake but according to stmtracker/prosper i got a clickthrough but no leads. Anyone know which part of the set up i messed up on?
Did you place the prosper pixel / postback on cake?
If not either do that or upload the subids manually on prosper.
yea i placed a postback url on cake.
I read all the guides and my manager tried to explain to me but after all of that i could not understand what subids are and how to use em. Can you give it a shot and try to explain to me?
On prosper link should look like :
http://link.com/?s2=[[subid]]
On cake the postback should look like :
http://prosperdomain.com/?tracking20...nt=&subid=#s2#
A subid is the unique identifying number that your tracking system gives to each visitor.
Let's say Alice clicks on your ad on FB. She's sent to your tracking server, which assigns her a "subid" - 11211, say. Her computer stores that number in the Web address that it uses for your landing pages.
When she clicks through to the offer page, the affiliate network running that offer records the "subid" she's using. This now means that you can match up Alice's click onto your landing page with her click onto the affiliate network's offer page.
And then, when she signs up to the offer, that subid is noted as having converted. The affiliate network then needs to tell you that she's converted, of course - which is what the postback does. They send the subid back to you through your postback link, and Prosper looks up that subid, and notes that it converted. And thus you can check your stats and find out which visitors converted!
Does that make sense?
As for how to use them - check out the STM Guides to Offer URLs and Postbacks:
