Hi all,
I've launched a few campaigns here and there without too much focus -basically a newbie. So I'm going to start this follow along aiming at:
1) Accountability.
2) Hopefully having some needed feedback from the STM masters and everyone else that can help me (I really want to give some value in return but haven't found a way how I can do it since I'm a newbie myself...but that belongs in another thread...).
3) Welcome anyone who is serious to talk/mastermind/keep each other accountable and can provide each other value somehow.
3) Other newbies can learn from my mistakes (on a related comment, I'm not sure how much information to give out without compromising my campaigns)
...sooooo here is the plan...
Budget: $100/day for a month, so $3k total (which I'm prepared to lose it all). More needed to scale and/or signs of profitability.
Networks: F5, Clickdealer (I'm member of a few others but want to keep them tight for cash-flow optimization).
Tracking:
Offers: 0-2$ payout offers, starting on spanish speaking markets.
Traffic: is it that important? (a well known network). Let's call it XYZ. Already funded and talked with reps.
8 banners, 3 offers. So 30 combinations around 3-4x the payout (around $100 the daily budget). DL for now.
First question: I'm trying to balance efforts to launch fast but to make good banners. How much time does it take you guys to make let's say those 8 banners for an initial test?
That's about it I guess.
Any feedback deeply appreciated!
Thanks!
Looks like we are in a very similar boat. I am also a member of clickdealer and f5. I wouldn't mind teaming up with eachother so we can motivate and keep eachother accountable. PM me with your skype and I will add you if you are interested so we can discuss further.
Congrats for taking action!
That's the first step towards success. As long as you dont give up you will be able to get mobile profitable.
As for ads, I would start with 3-4 different concepts, split test them and expand with variations on the winning concept.
^ bbrock nailed it, awesome start and mobile is definitely a lucrative market. Do not fear spending money on data, mobile is all about that looking forward to some results so we can further help you out mang
Hey guys, how is it going?
Didn't bail. Just had a some issues setting things up and creating and getting approved ads. Finally launched my first official mobile campaign and had some data:
Spent: $7.
Revenue: $0.
Profit: -$7.
Ads: 12 (2 styles, 3 headlines, 2 photos. All same size).
Impressions: ~4500 each.
CTR: from 0.3% to 0.57%.
DL.
Targeting: one campaign, just country.
Offers: 3 (1 + 2 LP of another). Sweepstakes.
Payout: $1.2.
Traffic: $2,5 to each.
Optimization:
Ads:
Based on the results from the AB split test calculator I'm cutting off 2 banners that reached 95% confidence having less CTR than the best ad.
Targeting:
I will break into 2 different campaigns since it will help with bidding. Wifi and Carrier traffic.
Overall: more data to cut off more banners based on statistical significance to be able to create more based on the winners.
Next steps: add a LP.
Questions:
* How many times the offers' payout should I spend before cutting off the offer?
* In mobile what is best to throw at first? different verticals? different countries....?
* How do you manage a country where there are not that many offers available?
* Should I separate the campaign also into App/Sites?
Thanks!
When it comes to separating campaigns on mobile I think there is a 4-way split that's pretty much mandatory:
Carrier vs WiFi and Site vs App, viz.
Campaign 1: Carrier/Sites
Campaign 2: WiFi/Sites
Campaign 3: Carrier/Apps
Campaign 4: WiFi/Apps
You really want to optimise these separately, at the very least optimise app vs site placements separately. Mobile is very data intensive - say you have a $2 payout offer, it might take $100 with only several conversions before you optimise to profitable site/app/carrier combos. Just make sure you are using an offer that's proven to work - you could certainly pioneer the way on a new offer but I wouldn't when starting out and on a low budget. There is a tonne of info on the forum regarding how to approach mobile campaigns so definitely sponge all that up and take notes.
