How do you make Direct Linking load faster on mobile? (13)

How do you make Direct Linking load faster on mobile?

If I take link from aff network and test DL loading speed, the result is pretty bad: 1,2-2 sec (Spain)
My own hosted LP loading time is 0.25-0.4 sec (with Voluum tracking)

How can I make DirectLink faster?
Iframing it, preload it somehow...?

Because theres no point testing DL with so slow loading speeds, at least in some traffic souces.

Thanks

You can't speed up a networks affiliate link. You can however have a pre page warning about the slow load time. But I'm not sure how much of a difference that will make CR wise.

With that being said, there is a point testing any DL links for mobile, it will turn your assumption into a fact.

The fastest you can get is removing tracking and pasting the aff link directly.

Actually I would suggest this anytime after you have enough data and dont need tracking anymore.

I have seen some ads that when clicked, instantly download the .apk application. You know how they are doing that? The user does not even leave the site he is browsing...

Those APK files are offers. You can find on mainstream mobile networks. Your aff link will go directly to the file.

Yes yes, I know these are offers I will give it a try

How many of them actually install/open the APK file?

varies.. but you are better off sending them to a page where they are notified of the download and urged to open it.

How many mobile-active affiliate networks are using properly geo-distributed tracking? How does Cake handle this? Their website doesn't seem to broach the subject of tracking speed and the backend.

The upper range of 400ms is quite high for your LP. Are you hosting your LPs on a CDN? Using Voluum you can upload all your LP files to a CDN since it doesn't require any dynamic scripts.

LP loading times are more important in this case as:

1) There's nothing you can really do to speed up your aff network load times. Maybe try going direct with the adv?
2) From traffic source to LP is where you'll see the most click loss / drop (obviously)
3) The user clicking from LP to offer is expressing interest, 1-2 seconds isn't too bad.

As Mr Green mentioned, there is always a point to testing. Try DL and compare that to your LP results.

Work with what you can, eliminate the option of DL with hard data, then focus on LP load times and CTRs.

Nice post about sending users from ads to the store

I don't want to imagine what they would say if they knew some are redirecting to download the .apk

Best option is to split test different affiliate networks links for the offer

.apks are going to be dropped by mobile exchanges soon, due to a tonne of rouge malware apks coming through. It's not even mobogenie etc doing the damage.
