What is the dress code for the STM Bkk event

Hi

What is the dress code for the STM Bkk event?

Whatever you like mate!

Some people will wear shorts and t shirts, others will wear button up shirts and jackets.

However for the after party, you might need nice shoes and a shirt. I'm not sure what the venue rules are.

Suits with rave gear underneath?

In all seriousness the meetup itself has NO dress code, but the venue after will be a little stricter. The 2nd venue where we will have drinks after will likely want dress shoes and a shirt with a collar.

So, is it easy to buy clothes there? If its sweat city, what the hell do you wear there? I live in Arizona, its hot and dry... You could wear jeans in the summer and barely be that sweaty...

^^ I'm interested in this too. In particular, anywhere good in BKK to get some tailored silk shirts at reasonable (ie not UK) prices?

02-26-2014 04:05 PM #17 Mr Green (Administrator)

I just got some tailored shirts from the meet up event planner's mate. I had a good fitting shirt I wanted duplicated in different materials. They came to my hotel with the tailor and materials, picked up my shirt, and will deliver it back. Came to 2000baht each. Probably not the cheapest you can do, but super convenient and professional.

Been walking around in tee shirt and shorts, the weather has been very tolerable.

suppose it depends on what kind of clothes you are looking for.

t-shirts/shorts? everywhere. although Asians are a lot smaller than Europeans. first time buying clothes there I was a XXL. first time buying clothes with an "X" on them, let alone 2

For those who are unaware, BKK is HOT. I think temperature-wise, it's the hottest major city in the world! I have to go with tee-shirts and shorts most of the time. But you'll want to bring a pair of jeans and some dress shoes because some nightlife venues require it, and you never know where the night will take you...
