Do you recommend targeting low competition countries?

Hello,

I asked my AM for some mobile offers and he sent me to the same usual countries and offers. Do you recommend trying other countries like arabic countries or better to stick with the regular ones where everybody is targeting?

I know some will say that I should test, but I would like to know about your previous experiences.

I had good success with low competition countries. Had a campaign running at about 800% ROI for a few weeks until the conversion rate on the offer nose-dived. I have also had campaigns completely tank in low competition countries. Got to test, sorry!

I'd definitely recommend lower-competition countries, but there's obviously a balance: you need to have some offers available and a decent chance of finding traffic! In addition, currently-hot countries are likely to be hot for a reason. But I'd always give more obscure countries at least a bit of a test - there's serious gold to be found there.

Also, current hotness of countries is likely to reflect in the CPC.
If you are just starting out.. there's a big chance that you won't make it past the testing phase in hot countries because of this. Or just spend too much for gaining knowledge that is cheaper in other geos.

I personally prefer competition. It means theres money to be made. If a country has little to no competition a very likely reason (in most cases of course there are exceptions) is that it just isnt a good geo. Since we all have 24hrs in a day i prefer to invest the time i have into something that can have a big impact with its outcome.

Well, these low competition countries can do pretty well for some of the INTL offers.

I would start with INTL targeting, see what countries convert best and create separate campaigns for those.
