Mobile Targeting and Tracking

When you setup a campaign, do you immediately target or let the campaign run and target successful demos?

I know for something like dating it helps to have an angle, but it seems harder to target a specific age group, race, etc. on mobile. I see a lot of battery saver/virus protection offers that don't seem like you could define a target.

Also, I've seen it mentioned elsewhere that sometimes apps are ruining your campaign because it's something stupid like Talking Tom the cat where it's just accidental clicks. I'm running on Decisive right now and see a lot of app names, but some names are just a long series of numbers, is there some way to identify those codes so I'm not losing clicks to a useless app?

Never assume anything! Who told you Talking Tom's traffic is useless?

You'd be very surprised which apps convert on certain placements

There is no way of identifying these apps/sites because Decisive is not even getting the names as mentioned here http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...l=1#post138769 I asked the same question

App traffic seems cheaper than site traffic, but I have the feeling that then we have a lot of returning visitors which makes the CTR much lower than site traffic.

What deondup said! Never assume anything. Go broad. Find out for yourself. There are only a few placements that have never converted for me, but I would of never of known that if I didn't test first. Some apps that look trashy convert pretty well.

Thanks guys! I've been running a broad campaign, just got nervous that somehow I'm burning money unnecessarily because I'm not targeting.
