How do you optimize your Adult Campaigns?

Hey Everyone

I'm wondering what type of systems you guys have in place to carve out a profitable campaign.

My initial idea was to test 5 different countries, pick the one that had the most conversions.
With that country, pick 5 different angles
From there, pick the most profitable angle
And from there, Optimize Ads, then LPs, then offers.

I'm still working on finding a profitable angle, but I'm wondering what the optimization process is for you guys.

On a sidenote, I'm spending like $50 a day, but I'm curious as to how ppl with larger budgets optimize since
their results would come faster than mine. Like how/why does it take a campaign a week or more to become profitable?

It can take 5 min to make a -30% campaign into a +30 one. Once you have significant data you can block bad placements and instantly become profitable.

Instead of trying to test 5 countries at once (way to many variables to test at your budget) pick a single country that has a decent amount of volume and a good selection of offers to test. The countries that have multiple offers to test is usually a good indicator that there is money to be had in that geo.

@Iammattila - At this point, it may take a week for me to get significant data (spending $50/day), but it looks like I have promise in one area.

@ClubdRock - Ive found a country thats been getting a few conversions consistently over the past few days and when i say a few i mean >10. However, I believe once I up my daily spend and get more traffic, my conversions will increase also.

I have a CTR of about .19% so I def need to get that up with some eye catching photos and play with some contrasting colors. Once I up my budget, I just want to know whats worth optimizing.

I also recommend you pick a 2nd tier country not a 1st tier one. There will be less sharks in the water so youll have a higher chance of easier success.

Best two ways to break into adult is to pick a geo and learn it inside out or to get lucky and get on really hot offer. The most important part is to get started and you will eventually create your own "luck" if you don't give up. Best of luck man!

Or the traffic source, all sources are different in the way you can use their bidding system/placement to your advantage. Stick with 1 and make it your bi**h, all the successful people on this forum have said it before or could vouch for this highly, too much jumping around minimal amounts here and there will get you no where, you need to be spending for significant data to get an idea if its working like said above a campaign can go from negative to positive if you stick it out in the blink of an eye and your mindset goes from f**k this to aff marketing is the work of gods.

In terms of optimising, I've always kept it simple because my adult game originated from running many campaigns, I can't sit there all day reading data so I kept it simple. I use 2 offers, 2-3 landers and 10 creatives. I pick a few placements, not to bid against myself in the beginning so a NTV placement, a Top right placement and a footer. I would run them for a day and then I would pause the lower converting offer and keep running, day 2 I would keep the best performing lander, day 3 I would keep the best creatives. This has allowed me to keep an ultra simple process, that is repeatable for EVERY campaign I run. Which allows me to focus on the important, scaling is forever niggaaaaaa!

I can't remember which thread I read this from, but DEFINITELY test the same offer between multiple networks.

i'm testing the same offer between 3 very well known networks and I found almost double EPC between 2 networks, with the other in between.

In addition to the above, after I have ran the initial 10 creatives. I will throw in some modified versions of the best converting template of banner, so keep the text and colour style, but just throw in some new crazy CTR images! I would put in 3-5 new banners at a time, and keep the banner blindness at bay. Do not over complicate, create your own mini system that you can repeat over and over again that allows for everything, running for a few days allows you to get significant data, but most importantly doesn't burn your brain out.

Oh and, when/if your campaign dies. The POF trick I used to use, works for adult too. Delete that campaign, and resubmit the entire thing over again and go through the process. I really have no idea how it brings campaigns back to life, but it does in most cases and it makes it a tonne easier sometimes just starting it over again

Also with this, of course split test between networks, but its been said on the forum before look at the revenue over the epc. Some networks inflate their epc's or count their epc's off different data like all clicks vs unique clicks etc. Sometimes you could have a higher epc on one network, but more revenue on another, something that definitely is easy to go unnoticed but can add even more to ya pockets

yeah I found that tip on this forum but I can't remember where. every network I have signed with seem to inflate the EPC just a bit.

actually, I know mundo recently just started showing EPC and EPUC... never really knew why they did that, I always just went by the EPC

So much fkn gold in this thread from clubdrock and maynzie!

If every network used accurate EPCs, they would look like utter shit. This is why aff networks ask you what type of media you're running, pretty much so they can take "pop/ppv" out of the running in their calculations. Still, most networks inflate... even the best ones. Just test and go from there

And I also agree to not test 5 countries. Test one geo that has multiple offers and is a proven converter - ask your AM! That way you get solid stats on landers and bidding etc... and landers are easier to move to other geos later on effectively.

Just stay out of the US if your budgets low!!!!!!!!!! (I would recommend a few k to test in the US alone)

Wow this thread blew up while I was gone. I'm def going to test some more placements, just to see how things go. My offer has been pretty consistent, so I deff think more placements is a good idea.
My geo is deff not in US. My ctr is pretty low, so I'll copy a few then create my own based on that.
Thanks a lot guys, I'll make these changes and update this thread later this week.

Maynzie how do you optimize your mobile/wap campaigns on traffic source like TJ? Placements other than iPad on tj get different types of mobiles coming in (android, iphone, tablet etc.). Seems like these types convert each their own way too..
