2 of the TOP 10 BEST RESTAURANTS IN ASIA are in BANGKOK!

Bangkok has always been one of the culinary capitals of the world.

If you have ever wanted to splurge on a great meal or a great hotel, Bangkok is the place to do it.

Bangkok has 2 of the top 10 best restaurants in Asia and 5 of the top 40 as well (see below).

While they are not cheap, they are remarkable value, compared to pretty much every major city in the world.

If you do come out to Bangkok, do not even think of eating from a fast food place or a restaurant chain.

That would be a crime.

You can have plenty of Chipotle or Nando's or Nordsee when you go back home.

LOL at a list of the top 50 restaurants in Asia without Sukiyabashi Jiro. I mean it's not like Sushi is a super rare and unknown gastro course either, how is the best sushi restaurant in the world not on the list? I'm fully aware that there is no perfect review process, but Michelin's probably as close as you're going to get to it. Funny enough, there are 0 Michelin-starred restaurants in BKK.

That said though, I do agree with cmdeal -- there's some seriously delicious food in BKK. I think for most Westernized people, walking around and getting legitimate street food for a buck or two is an experience most people will enjoy. The high end gastro scene in BKK is not on the same level as the same level as other juggernauts, especially for the pricing level. If you're paying 150-200 for a set tasting menu, take your money and go to Ramon Freixa for 100 euro in Madrid or EMP in NYC or Alinea in Chicago, etc etc etc. I would go for the authentic Thai food scene, especially if you're not gonna be there long enough to get sick of the somewhat limited scope of flavors in Thai cuisine.

Yeah this list is sort of jacked. I can name some restaurants which should definitely be on the list.

I am looking forward to that too. Also 20 pints of beer for $7. Sounds like a deal!

lol. unfortunately that would be in a different country

there was this small restaurant off the main areas in Koh Phagnan near all the ladyboy bars that we called the 300 menu restaurant.

the menus would come in the form of a binder, and one day I decided to count how many items they had on their menu, which came to just over 300 items.

Looking forward to Nahm for sure. I will enjoy the street food... Thai is some of my favourite gastro-go-to. Flat rice noodles with chicken and chilli basil... hnnngg. Pad thai tastes different everywhere you go too, so looking forward to experiencing that about 100 times. What's Thai for "please don't skimp on the chilli because I'm cauc"? Hate when they fucking westernise the dish because I'm a whitey grr!

Oh, I misread it lol

Sounds fun nevertheless.

Next STM meetup should definitely be in Goa I think.

I'm a foodie, so definitely up for checking out the top dining experiences whilst we're there. Let's organise some things!

Right there with you. Eating lethally-spiced soup in hawker malls in Singapore was one of my favourite dining experiences ever.

There's a couple places in Toronto that claim to be real Thai food and theyre highly praised, i was expecting to go to Thailand and have completely different food but it did taste very much the same.
