Hi Guys,
I hope this is the right place.
I'm still very new to affiliate marketing and will one day go full-time concentrating my efforts on this. At the minute I run an SEO company which keeps me more than busy!
I'm onboard with Plus500 and want to place some ads (sponsor) on a trading (not Google adsense) site. I'm not going to do landing pages, because Plus500 have quite tight rules and I haven't got time. I just wanted to experiment using their banner ads with around $300 to test.
As low as £12 CPM which I think is workable and Plus500 CPA is pretty high (up to around $500).
Would be great to hear your feedback and am I nuts not doing a landing page?
Gareth
Does anyone think it has a chance?!
The site has 1.6 million unique visitors a month with 89% returning!
Without the most important metrics - a baseline conversion rate (for the target site), and a baseline CPC - it's impossible to say whether this is a great idea or a terrible idea.
It has a chance.
But there's only one way you're going to find out.
EDIT: One thing I'd say is to check how the website monetizes its users already. Do they have affiliate ads dotted around the site? If so, there's a good chance they already understand your business model and have tried it themselves. Direct buys generally work best when you have a better understanding of monetizing the website than the guy you're buying from.
I have no experience in this particular niche, but I'd say that in general a $ 300 budget for a $ 500 product is way too little to make any meaningful conclusions.
Let's say you spend the $ 300 and have zero conversions, what does that tell you? You didn't even spend 1 x the offer payout, so not much...
Just my 2 cents...
What Andy said. You can't possibly gather any significant data spending $300 on a $500 CPA offer.
