InMobi - How to block ISP's that arent listed in the Carrier Section?
Hey Guys,
I am running an offer (US) on Inmobi and trying to figure out how to block certain ISPs that arent listed in the carrier section...
I am running wifi and carrier traffic and i cant seem to differentiate which is which...
Would appreciate input..

I want to block comcast cable and Time warner cable & AT&T U-Verse...
The thing is that every time i try and block wifi, traffic trickles... Im trying to figure out if i need to up my bid from .05 and push it up higher for US carrier traffic....

those 2 are wifi and its almost impossible to block it individually. You could get the IP Ranges and ask your AM to block it for you but from my experience its a hit or miss.
Wifi traffic makes up the bulk of traffic in most geo's. I suggest you run on App placements only, select the main carriers and double your bid. You will get decent traffic. You can't expect to get premium carrier traffic (at scale) for 5c in the USA. CPM's are $1+ so look at your CTR's and work back from there to determine a good CPC

Allright, but what im trying to understand is why is wifi traffic considered bad quality?
If the offer is an app download for instance, google play or itunes download.... If im downloading an app, i almost always avoid downloading over carrier traffic as i dont want to use my plans data to download an app when i could do it at home on my wifi...

who told you wifi is "bad quality"
Its just different and you will see it performing better or worse depending on the app/offer. That's why you should test it separately.
It never a good idea to filter things through your own experiences. "most people" are not like you. To really test something you need to let go of all assumptions

You have already answered yourself. If a person isn't willing to download an app while on his data connection and prefers to use WIFI, he's most likely limited in funds and won't convert well for an advertiser in future. He can download a free version of an app but will not upgrade to the paid version or make in-app purchases. So even if WIFI converts well for affiliates, the conversion rate on the advertiser's end won't be too high. Anyways, it depends on the offer itself - there are many advertisers who are OK with leads from WIFI traffic.

In the PDF from
http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...paigns&p=32080 (p.20) they say Wifi is not good quality traffic. You get better quality without it. Also blocking app traffic increases your quality... I am a newbie in all this, but this is what I also read. I know we have to test test... but this is what we have read to get some basics.
I quote another part from p.10
Carriers – This is a critical component of any mobile campaign. For example often times
by blocking WiFi traffic you can instantly improve quality of traffic. Also, carriers offer
you insight into the demographics of your users. For example in the US, a Verizon user is
going to be very different from a Metro PCS user. One being more affluent and the other
tends to be more urban and youthful.
By the way, do you guys have the tracking variables for inmobi?

_si_sb is not active by default. You need to reach out to your account manager and ask him to activate it for you.
