Hi I am a super noobie to this.
I am overwhelmed with so much information provided in this forum
I need some clarification on where to start.
As a starting point, should I pick a niche (dating, etc) & purchase a domain first before I start applying for affiliate networks (F5 Media, Convert2Media, etc)? OR is it ok for me to apply the affiliate networks first, then pick a niche I want to focus on?
Please correct me if I am wrong.

I think it's best if you buy a general domain first. That way you can host landingpages for several different campaigns on it. Think along the lines of "signupnow.com" or any variation of it.
After you've done that you can set up tracking on it (Install Prosper or CPVLab).
Next, apply for affiliate networks and from there on pick a niche.
That's how I'd do it anyway.
