Hey guys,
As per the guides, here's my first follow-along campaign.
Traffic Source: TrafficJunky
Offer: Adult
Target: Netherlands
Landingpages: Not yet
Server: Hybrid VPS from BeyondHosting
Campaign Objective: Make $50 per day (it's only my first campaign)
Hopefully I've set up everything correctly with Prosper.
Here goes!
Cheers,
Stealth
Best of lucky, buddy. I'll be watching as you go along and ripping your best ideas when they're bringing ca-ching.
I'll launch a thread at some stage with my first-ever campaign, so let's hope we can provide each other, at the very least, with some motivation to keep going.
Good luck Stealth! I will be following.
good luck!
Cheers guys, waiting is now for TrafficJunky to approve my ads.
Ok, here's some preliminary results:
5 different ads/banners:
001 - Impressions: 5846 - 4 clicks - CTR 0,07%
002 - Impressions: 5810 - 5 clicks - CTR 0,09%
003 - Impressions: 981 (new) - 1 click - CTR 0,1%
004 - Impressions - 1019 (new) - 0 clicks
005 - Impressions - 1066 (new) - 1 click - CTR 0,09%
Money spent: $11,05
Conversions: 0
Profit: -11,05
My CPM is 0,812. That gets me 3% of traffic. The top bidder for my selected country (Netherlands) is bidding $1.066 CPM, which seems to be rather much.
For now (I think) I need more data. So I will up my bid to match his to get as much traffic as possible. I want to get at least 1 conversion today to see if this stuff actually works.
Some early results would be nice, even at a loss. I know the CPM of $1.066 is pretty bad (or at least, it feels that way), but the payout is $4 per conversion so it might be worth it if I can nail the CTR and CR right.
Question: My Prosper only measures clicks, not the stats of the ads (CTR). Is this normal? I'm now checking it with Trafficjunky itself, but somehow I feel it should be Prosper that's doing this for me.
Any tips & tricks at this point would be appreciated
.
Cheers,
Stealth
Subscribed. Best of luck!
Hey Stealth,
I'm not as accomplished on TJ as a lot of folk around here but what strikes me is that you're paying $1 cpc on a $4 offer. That is seriously pushing shit uphill.
I would take a step back here and really study the placement you're targeting. The creatives people are running, landers and offers. Use the spy tool.
If you really want to DL at least split test it against a lander. Landers just work.
Look for other less competitive placements. Belgium could be good. Test a few don't just try to make the first one work.
Test more creatives, your CTR is way too low. Again, use the spy tool see what ads have been running on the placement the longest and try to figure out why.
Test more than 1 offer.
With Prosper, it doesn't measure ad ctr, it doesn't know how many impressions your ads get.
Now get back to work
No offense but you are another newb just bidding up and over inflating already insanely high prices.
Start on POF where the people can be better targeted, here you will blow your money and join the pack of those guys who come dreaming of riches, and then quit a week or month later.
This dating shit is about finding the right target market, guys on TJ sites are looking to jack off, not to date, right away your chances of success are diminished. People on POF are looking to date, so sell them some better dating site.
..just my 2 cents
^^ did you talk to BENPOF? maybe they accept an alternative form of payment?
Thanks for the replies guys. I think TJ is just not for me. I find all that hardcore porn stuff disgusting. I'm not cut out for it. Advertising game-offers on FB, sure, no problem. POF maybe, but this shit is just beyond me.
And yeah, I'm a guy, there is nothing wrong with me, but this shit ridiculous.
I do still have $85 credit on the account, so I do need to come up with something to use for it.
You decided to run adult, whilst you already found hardcore porn disgusting? Maybe a little research into what you want to do/achieve.. other than just seeing $$$ might benefit you.. sorry if that sounds harsh.
I've been running all sorts last few years, but never touched adult once.
Why? Not because I find it disgusting. But because I don't like the idea of my kids/family thinking I push porn.
So mobile and display lead gen is for me..
Or just push biz-opp offers with the remaining $85 if adult is too dirty for you. Be prepared to lose money though
.
Nah I'm just going to keep testing. Mustered up some new courage and the Canadians are in for a surprise :P.
Targetting: Canada
Offer: Fetish/Adult
Network: TJ - Pornhub
Payout: $49
Budget: $82 (remaining account balance)
CPM: $0.47 for 315x300 banner on video page
Let's see what happens.
Update. Campaign got started after all my ads got approved.
It's running like crazy and I'm definitely getting a good number of clicks (31 clicks so far - at a cost of $3 - so $0.09 per click).
No conversion yet, but I'm surprised traffic is really kicking off like that.
I can't see which of my 10 ads is bringing in most traffic yet. TJ stats aren't updated yet.
Let's see what the stats are tomorrow. I'm hoping to have at least 1 conversion by then.

Ad no 4 has a CTR of 0.57%. Is that good? I've attached the pic and I'm thinking people might be clicking on it because they're curious.

I mean, it is a meme and I wanted to test if it get clicks. It definitely does by the looks of it, but would you guys recommend using ads like this?
LPs: Have a look at some of the LP designs on this forum, but above all, don't overthink it.
If you've got an image, some text, a headline and a call to action on your LP, you're good to go. Amateur-looking converts.
No matter HOW crappy your LP looks, I'm reasonably sure I will have had profitable ROI with something that looked worse...
Thanks Caurmen. I'll make a LP asap.

Actions:
- Build a LP
- Stop all ads but 002 and 004. These are clearly the best performing ads based on CTR.
I've paused the campaign until I can build a LP.
You shouldn't be cutting ads before you've nailed down a landing page and offer. Banners with lower CTRs can result in better conversion rates than those with higher CTRs depending on your funnel after the ad.
Yeah good point. I'll resume everything after I get the LP.
Hey guys,
Created my LP, based on the offer-page. Here it is: http://signup2day.net/lp/001/
Just to make sure I got it right: in Prosper202 I already had my offer and I created a direct link to the offer. That link went on my LP.
Now for the traffic source I create a new Prosper202 link pointing it to the LP to track everything right?
EDIT: NM, figured it out.
Looks good! You might want to consider taking out the form and replacing it with some copy talking about the benefits of the site, but other than that, good to go!
Ok burned through the last of my campaign money ($22) and wondering if I should keep going with this offer or pull it.
I suspect the sign up fee is too high for people. My traffic from Pornhub is probably not interested in getting something expensive like that.
Like someone else already remarked: these guys are looking to jerk off.
So, try a new offer or move to a vertical that's more to my liking?
I would suggest getting an offer with a low payout and high CR to gather data faster.
Also TJ is a pretty competitive place to buy traffic. Start with smaller sites on EXO / JA / ERO till you have the basics figured out.
POF allows PayPal. You just have to contact ben@pof.com and explain your situation. or Skype: benpof
You should try to get a credit card though. Very useful to say the least.
OK, based on your recommendations I've created a new campaign:
Traffic source: TrafficJunky - Pornhub (trying to master 1 source first)
Target country: Canada
Offer: SexPlayCam - payout $2 per free signup
Daily budget: $25
Ads: 15
LP: Yes, 1
I'm using memes to try and shake things up. Hoping for a pattern interrupt. Guys are probably blind to seeing girl, girl and more girls up in the ads, so hopefully 9gag-like memes will get some nice CTR.
Waiting for TJ now to approve ads + campaign. Hope for first conversion when I wake up tomorrow (10 PM here).
Question: the offer I'm using only has a postback URL. I'm now using Prosper202 to track the conversion but I want TJ to do it as well. I'm not familiar with TJ converion tracking other than a pixel. Thing is: my ads aren't in Prosper (not suitable as they are banners) so I won't be able to track which got the conversion otherwise. Any suggestions?
Cheers,
Stealth
Well this sucks. Spent another $30 without getting a single fricking conversion. What the hell is going on?
I'm really starting to lose faith in this stuff.
Here's full disclosure so you guys can hopefully help me.
Offer: SexPlayCam Top Converting (Peerfly) - http://trkur.com/trk?o=6855&p=77366
Traffic: Canada visitors to Pornhub
LP:

Ads are getting the following numbers:

I've paused the campaign now because I've spent 10x the payout. What should I do next?
One thing I'd strongly suggest - limit your spend until you've tested the offer.
A lot of the AM game is testing a bunch of offers to find one that works for you, or works with your campaign. Normally, I'd limit spend on a campaign to 4x the offer payout until I see if it converts. If it hasn't converted at all after 4x payout spend ($8 in this case), kill the offer on that campaign.
I'd also strongly suggest split-testing offers - usually 3 or 4 of them - for the same reason.
How many networks are you signed up to right now? Not all networks convert the same on each offer - it's also worth testing offers on several networks.
Thanks. Question: how do I splittest offers? I assume you mean rotating different offers on the same campaign?
In Prosper I've found I can add different URLs to a campaign, but each of these offers have different payout values. So how can I accurate measure the payout/ROI?
Edit: set up 4 new campaigns. Same offer in 4 different countries: Australia, Canada, UK and US.
Payout: $3.50
Traffic source: TJ - Gaytube
This time I'm going to closely monitor the campaigns and cut them off right away if they haven't converted at 4x the payout.
Let's hope this works!
Yep, rotate offers in the same campaign, and keep an eye on them.
I'm afraid that measuring ROI with Prosper is a case of good old fashioned spreadsheets
Take the earnings per offer from Prosper or your affiliate network, then take your spend from the traffic source, enter the lot into a spreadsheet, and there you go!
Nice work on starting a new campaign - you'll need to do a lot of that to find some gems! Let us know how it goes!
