Right side ads vs newsfeed?

Which one do you prefer and why?

With newsfeed ads, do you create a new page for every offer you promote?

They both have their positives and negatives.

Right Hand ads are cheaper and I'd imagine nearly all of us have experience with them. You generally know what you're going to get. On the flip side, they're not mobile and they have less space to work with.

News feed ads are larger and their means of delivery is very appealing. You can target solely mobile users as well. This is great news as 10% of Facebook users is mobile only. That's a pretty big stat. With the quality comes a higher price tag however. Depending on what you're promoting, it may not be the best bet for you. I think they're both useful.

I had been disregarding news feed ads for a long time, I Just recently decided to take another swing. They go hand in hand with a mobile iframe. A lot of people still don't use these but they're essential if you don't like paying for mobile clicks that can't see your iframe tab.

I have had much better luck with newsfeeds, much higher CTR's. Just understand that people will be able to comment on your ads...

So do you build a page for each offer?

I've heard the CTR on newsfeed ads is a lot higher, but people coming in tend to convert less. is this true in your observation?

I don't run under 9% CTR on Newsfeed. There are so many ways you can use the extra pixels, including very creative ways to use the 20% text allowance in the image.
The conversion can be better than RHS, your lander needs to be WAY more simple and dumbed down. If you can snag an email address (which is what I do) off Newsfeed, you're going to be profitable.

I would test though, it really depends on the niche.

And waltermitty, not all Newsfeed ads can be commented on. Page Like ad, which is one type that I run (I run 3 for different reasons/limitations), cannot.

Jdenhaan, I recommend you test as many different things as possible. You have a question in another thread which depends on literally everything including niche, age/demo, targeting etc. Just test. CTR varies on RHS between 0.1% (any niche you can get this if you use the right images and they don't have to be women!) and 1.1% (steady for some ads in older dating demos, though they don't convert as well).

9%? That's nuts! You must be laser targeting your demo?

not really.. just be aware there are also a lot of "fat finger" clicks with mobile.. it's the same in most apps.

I only do RHS's and I do quite a bit of volume.

I've tested mobile a few times for games and gotten pretty bad roi (-70% percent).

I'm not approaching it the same though, how many copies of the ads on newsfeed ads do you typically run? (I was only testing 3-4 at a time, which now thinking back seems like a low number).

I tried writing a lot, or a little in my ads to see if that made a difference, but my RHS are typically high roi so I just never had the motivation to test more newsfeed.
